How did the fandom respond to Galvatron after the movie and later in season 3?
How did they see Galvatron when the movie came out and then in season 3?

General dislike of the character being written as crazy rather than a leader, and people preferred the voice acting by Leonard Nimoy.

I have read about Galvatron being cured of his madness by the Matrix in The return of Optimus Prime part 2.
Is this true or just what some people believe?

Don't recall it being in the actual episode (but it's been a while). Though there may be something in the script/storyboards if that's one of the ones that has surfaced in recent years. Bringing back OP was a rebalancing of the factions and resetting Galvatron to a more Megatron-like state would've keyed into that.

His plan to destroy earth AND cybertron may not not have seemed sane in Rebirth and he may still shouted, threatened Scourge and did not like nebulous being a part of the Decepticons and threatened to blow them out of them.Denyer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:06 pm Don't recall it being in the actual episode (but it's been a while). Rebirth is by a different writer to TRoOP and was compressed down to three episodes in a rushed production. It's hard to gauge how things would have developed with a further full season.
Not that the US show was particularly good either, but it would probably have worked out better than the Japanese Headmasters cartoon which almost immediately killed off Optimus again. The only thing that show (and quite a bit of the Japanese material) really has going for it is that before it was available in the rest of the world, it had some mystique and people assumed it was better than it was.
