Transformers with mental disorders

Post by Lady Quickswitch »

What, if any, mental disorders do your characters have? Or just Transformers in general. How much of the Cybertronian population do you think has some kind of mental-related malfunction or fixture of their personality? I'll start.

Quickswitch, the moody Autobot Six Changer with six "moods" to match his modes. He's clearly one of the most messed up of all Cybertronians. He's bipolar, moving from one mode to another irratic and extremely. Borderline Personality Disorder, a mind made up of fragmented personae and a black and white extreme of thinking, with emotional laibility and multiple personality disorder, his mind fragmented enough that six different versions of himself are evident. Add his assault function to this and he is one dangerously unpredictable Transformer.

Sky Lynx, he doesn't really have a mental disorder, but his immense self-absorbtion and self-centeredness gives him honorary mention. If he's not thinking of himself and his amazing skills, he's boasting about it to others, or out performing the next great achievement. Few are as good as Sky Lynx, and the world knows it.

Cutthroat, sadistic serial killer who enjoys destruction so much he doesn't even like to merge into Abominus because the unstoppable force is too tame for his violent tastes/

And some others....

Warpath, BLAM! Tourette's Syndrome!

Breakdown, paranoia

Dead End, depression

Blurr.... um.... ADHD!!

Kup.... again not disordered but he's certainly a Grumpy Old Man. :D

Dinobots....they're a little slow.

Sunstorm.... he thinks he's a God. Enough said. ;)

Sunstreaker, the magnificent sociopath on the side of good.

Blot, intractable slovenliness.

Sixshot....OCD (compelled to murder)

Ultra Magnus, can't deal with that now!

Red Alert....Paranoia and delusions!

Ooo, fun! All my characters might have some sort of mental defect or another.

Skywarp: definitely ADHD, maybe mercury poisoning, as well as enough immaturity for an entire planet. He's got that 'eternal childhood' syndrome or whatever it is that makes you view the world through the eyes of a kid.

Grimlock: Speech defect, but he uses it consciously to fool others. Anger management issues.

Sentinel: God complex, jerk complex, chin complex.

Obsidian: Fanaticism. For Mother Cybertron!

Prowl: I write him with an image of a subconscious OCD, though Prowl doesn't show it. Perks of being brothers (sorry, mold-brothers) with a shrink, I guess. How else do you explain how he juggled like 21 crisises at the same time? Plus a small dose of paranoia and antisocialism, and maybe sociopathic tendencies, as well, though like Grimlock he makes use of it.

Sixshot: Multiple personality disorder, but not evident. Yet. Also, a lack of morality. And purpose. He's the kind of guy that seems happy but has suicidal tendencies all around.

The Fallen: the guy is a GOD. NO MATTER WHAT YOU PUNY RPG RULES SAY. HIS GOD COMPLEX REWRITES THE VERY FABRIC OF REALITY GOD DAMN IT CHAOS WINS. I think it's easier to list down what personality disorders the Fallen doesn't have.

Scorponok is the only one without a disease, but he's crazy enough that it doesn't matter.

Highbrow: Has to be, or at least feel like, the smarttest man in the room. Thirst for knowledge as well.

Topspin: in the old RPG, he suffered from over-confidence. Not sure yet if he will in this one yet.

Rapido: OCD - plans out a multitude of possible scenarios for every situation encountered. If something comes up that was not planned, it kinda ticks him off. There should not be anything he hasn't at least had some kinf of plan designed for.

Ginrai: Ok, this was completely unintentional, but he some how (thank you Blackjack.....) ended up with an inferiority complex. EVERYONE has told him he's a monster and now he's kinda self concious and is going to do what ever it takes to prove them wrong... what's going to happen when he's a human is anyone's guess.

God Bomber: Ummmm He's a sociopathic weapon of mass destruction? No seriously, he has no compunctions hurting or killing ANYONE who gets in his way or tries to stop his mission. That being said, if you are under his protection, he will show incredible compassion and loyalty. He also loves puppies and children (I'm actually writing that in some how...)

Fortress Maximus: He's a pacifist put into the most powerful weapon ever designed. He also has a healthy does of survivor's guilt thrown ontop. Surprisingly, he's actually relatively well adjusted....

Hunter: Ummm - He'd actually be diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia... The problem is, he really does hear voices... he's actually quite sane. He's gone to the empty parts of space, found something, and came back sane... how scary is that?

Alpha Trion: He's Bats#!$ crazy? No seriously. He can see the future (well, possible and probable futures), massive anti-social tendancies, jesus complex, healthy dose of guilt, and just a touch of senility. But... he's at least friendly :D

My human characters seem the most well adjusted, by comparrison...

Oh...
and the new guy

Hytherion: White Knight Complex.... (though he dresses in black... and has a lion for a head... oh the wife is going to have a field day with this...)

Add organophobia to the Sentinel pile-up.

SIMMONS: What about him is not sane? I ask you, what part of Seymour Simmons is sane? Addiction to alien conspiracy stuff, a mild dose of ADHD and egomania, a messiah complex, anti-social, confrontational, superiority comples, general batshit craziness.... add that to his do-anything-and-get-away-with-it-badge...

Don't blame me. Blame Scorponok and Sentinel.

A month with them and you'll walk out a Blot.

Same as Sixshot, then.

Little known fact: in the old RPG Sixshot had a pet kitten named Marmalade. To buy cat food Sixshot literally raided the contents of a mall's pet shop.

Paranoid personality disorder, to be more specific. To whit:
Those with the condition are hypersensitive, are easily slighted, and habitually relate to the world by vigilant scanning of the environment for clues or suggestions to validate their prejudicial ideas or biases. Paranoid individuals are eager observers. They think they are in danger and look for signs and threats of that danger, disregarding any facts. They tend to be guarded and suspicious and have quite constricted emotional lives. Their incapacity for meaningful emotional involvement and the general pattern of isolated withdrawal often lend a quality of schizoid isolation to their life experience.
That's, uh...pretty much Red Alert's character bio right there. He hasn't quite reached those depths in the game, but he probably will before the Soundwave mess is over.

Omega Supreme, on the other hand, suffers from extreme social isolation that has left him nearly suicidal. His massive size and the problems it cause in terms of interactions with his peers (along with the military propaganda that he was fed when he was built as a superweapon in the last great war) makes it almost impossible for him to identify or sympathize with a normal Transformer. He thinks of them almost the same way that a human would think of an insect or small mammal -- intellectually he knows that they're alive and that he shouldn't hurt them without reason, but emotionally it's a challenge for him to care. He's a sociopath, basically, and he recognizes that in himself and hates it.

Lugnut is fairly stable, but his obsessive love for Megatron certainly isn't healthy.

Megatron himself is hugely narcissistic, along with having the impulse control and emotional development of a six year old child. Unlike most Megatron's, he's not a psychopath and he does care about others and the world around him. But because of his giant ego, he 'knows' that he's the only one who can fix the problems he sees in the world, and woe be to anyone who gets in his way.

Despite appearances to the contrary, Predacon is the picture of mental health. He enjoys his work more than is strictly necessary and he can compartmentalize any feelings of empathy that might get in the way of his endeavours in mad science, but that doesn't stop him from being rational and having a clear grasp of the world around him.

Skullgrin has a textbook case of dissociative identity disorder -- his mind is split into two personalities. The cool, analytical and intelligent 'strategist' Skullgrin is his original self. But his sponsors in the gladiator's ring didn't think he was entertaining enough, so they subjected him to an illegal procedure to try and overwrite his personality with a new one. It failed, and the new 'berserker' persona only emerges when Skullgrin is enraged or his life is in mortal danger. And all of a sudden, my plans to replace him with a different plot-relevant character in a few months' time don't look so attractive. :(

Soundwave is in pretty much the same boat as Omega Supreme, isolated and cut off from normal Transformer society. But unlike Omega, who hates his sociopathic tendencies, Soundwave embraces what he has become. He is, however, somewhat unhealthily obsessed with getting revenge on the Autobots who made him into what he is.

I guess that leaves poor Smokescreen as the only member of my roster who has his head screwed on straight.

That is an awesome take on Omega.

HEY! Skywarp has the impulse control and emotional development of a six year old. Megatron is, like, eight years old at least.

See, Skywarp is basically someone like, oh, Bugs Bunny or Spongebob with guns, with no moral center and an explosion fetish.

Just like Scorponok.

See, the craziest are always the sanest.

All of a sudden I have a sudden urge to replay Skullgrin in the old RPG.
I guess that leaves poor Smokescreen as the only member of my roster who has his head screwed on straight.
Dude, he's a shrink.

He's supposed to be curing all this crap. Evidently Smokey's a poor shrink.

Then, of course, there is the "Don Quixote" of the Autobots— Tailgate. The poor deluded fool who, despite all evidence to the contrary, and innumerable attempts by others to convince him otherwise, believes that Earth machines (even bicycles and washing machines) are just as alive [and sentient] as Cybertronians, and need to be "Freed" from their "enslavement".
