"You're welcome." Blackjack nodded to Retro. At the question the medic posed, Blackjack pondered it for a while, before answering "Feel free... although who is this 'Widget'?" The Micromaster turned away from Retro for a few seconds to bark orders at a group of Seekers, before turning back to regard the old medic.

Zephyr made a sound that was a cross between a gag and a mumble, before hoisting the dead body above his shoulder.

Misfire turned and looked from Jaggor to Dark Walk, encased inside an Overbite. He started to say something, then decided against it. Seeing no immediate danger, Misfire ordered Aimless to disconnect and continue repairs, this time on Misfire's leg engines. The Targetmaster stood still, waiting for Jaggor to give him some orders.

Detour's weapon overheated, and he retracted the tiny pinprick lasers into his body. He cursed when Stratus' shots made a sizable crater in front of him, sending debris and concrete flying around.

Detour tried to use his momentum to zip on the walls, as he had done millions of times before, but his engines were damaged. He tilted, faltered and spun into the crater, upside-down. The Micromaster stood up in robot mode and tried to climb out of the crater...

Communications Hub #2

As Vindicator engaged the visible scavengers, Reverb wanted to wait for a few minutes to make sure no one else would come charging out of the hub building before he ducked inside, but Relay started to move almost immediately. Tightening his grips on his twin rifles, Reverb followed.

Following Detour's homing beacon, Acid Storm eventually came close enough that he could see the fight between the Micromaster and Stratus. He smiled when he saw how much damage his smaller colleague had managed to inflict on their enemy, but the situation Detour was in now wasn't very smile-worthy.

Hefting the laser rifle that Misfire had loaned him, Acid Storm shouldered it and started to fire on Stratus' airborne form.

"Why don't you try picking on someone your own size, you coward?"

Veterans' Hospital

"He's one of the Hospital porters," Retro explained, his tone just a little hurt by Blackjack's distrust. "I did say there were staff working here..."

Instinctively, he reached out to steady the body Zephyr had lifted.

"I'll get him to deliver a 'formport to the main corridor and we can meet him."

Solder nodded. "This is one of the more recently terminated, which is why I chose him." He gave a quick, smug smirk; Stormfire did not miss it. "However, he's liable to begin losing some integrity if whatever killed him is still corroding his internals."

And Solder thought, cruelly: let them work out for themselves exactly what that means!

Jaggor tucked both his rifles away in order to lift the sagging Overbite off the one inhabited by Dark Walk. "Now, get up," he said.

Dark Walk did so, muttering thanks, and passed his gaze carefully over his friend's exoform, noting the almost complete skin of chrome plating him. It was not, from his point of view, a pleasant sight; he flinched from the distorted reflection of his Overbite unit's features in Jaggor's chestplate.

"Misfire, what is your status," Jaggor said, turning back to the other. "You will lead me in pursuit of the enemy."

"When ya gotta go..," Relay muttered, reaching the open doorway of Communications Hub #2. He could see no scavengers, but that did not mean there were none deeper inside. He hung back a fraction, allowing Reverb to come up beside him; at least the Decepticon had rifles. "Cover me."

"I'm functional," Misfire said, his spirits lifting slightly at the thought of doing something useful. "Follow me." Misfire said, as he broke out at a jog towards the tunnels, Aimless still attached to his hand.

Acid Storm!

Detour never thought he would have been so happy so see the garishly-painted Seeker. "Storm! Watch out- this guy can control minds!" the Micromaster doubted that the Seeker watched much tri-vee, but he at least had to warn his comrade. Pushing his engines to the limit, Detour transformed back into his car mode, shot out of the crater away from Stratus as the speedy Decepticon maneuvered between Acid Storm's legs.

"Where'd the Predacons disappear to?" he wondered out loud as his pinprick lasers flipped up. The Micromaster was disgusted to see that they were still overheated from the earlier attack on Stratus.

"Ah. Yes. Please do accept my sincere apologies." Blackjack said, although his tone was insincere. But he had to put up with Retro for now. The Micromaster turned to Galestorm and nodded, "You have the watch while I accompany him."

Blackjack hopped down from the table and strode over to Retro.

Zephyr, meanwhile, gave Stormfire a glance that said 'where did they did up this wacko?' before turning to Solder, "Yeah. Interesting. Where d'you want me to put this... thing?"

Communications Hub #2

Vindicator continued to fire at the scavengers. He was trying to do his best to keep them pinned down but the shock of his surprise attack was wearing off.

He was able to see that they were firing back at him in a more coordinated manner as to draw his fire. He couldn't keep this up much longer.

His plan must have worked, he thought to himself. He didn't remember there being this many enemies when he commenced his attack.

As he fired at a scavenger who was taking pot shots at him he noticed that one of them was trying to get on his flank.

Acting quickly Vindicator drove in that direction that the scavenger was headed. As he got closer he transformed and charged that scavenger. Firing his machine gun and powering up his energy blade incase he was forced into close combat.

He saw that the scavenger began to fall back after taking hits from a few rounds. But doing this Vindicator had left his right side open to attack and was hit a few times in the side.

Luckily they had just been glancing hits.

Not wishing to risk any more damage Vindicator ran for cover. He began to reload his weapon not wishing to say down for long in order to prevent the scavengers from surrounding him.

He hoped that Relay and Reverb would be quick about it he wouldn't be able to keep this up for long.

"Uh..." Reverb's optics grew a little bit at Relay's request. "Yeah. Sure. Consider yourself covered."

He tightened his grip on his rifles a bit, then started swivelling his head around looking for hostiles.

"Head for the back," he whispered. "That's where we'll find the equipment we need...if it's still here."

Acid Storm's communications system must have been on the list of damaged equipment -- all that he heard of Stratus's transmission was "...s of...or...", with the rest drowned out by static.

"Not my mind, he can't," he told Detour, not realizing the peril he could be in, "because the only thing on it is killing him!"

When the Micromaster asked about the Predacons, he just shrugged. "Don't know, don't care and don't need them. I'll deal with this idiot personally."

He fired another barrage at Stratus, this time aiming for the larger Transformer's engine exhausts. If he could damage one of them sufficiently, Stratus would have to stay grounded or risk crashing...pretty much like Acid Storm's current situation.

Detour nodded at Acid Storm, "But be careful! If you watch too much Tri-vee, this wannabe has injected a sublimal message which means he could control your mind with a word or three." noting the Seeker's beat-up state, Detour silently added, not that your audio sensors could hear it...

Detour looked at his pinprick lasers, which had overheated, and grunted in disgust. It would take some time for them to cool back down...

Veterans' Hospital

"Please, follow me," Retro invited the group consisting of Solder, Stormfire, Blackjack and Zephyr. He was happy to be doing something just to stop the questions and attendant suspicions; oh, he might have fried some of his higher consciousness, but he had well understood!

Solder hurried to the other medic's side as they passed through the open door into the Hospital proper. "So: what's happened to Lathe?" he asked quietly.

Retro kept his optics straight ahead, ostentatiously watching out for Widget. "He... disappeared."

"This is a monitored building," Solder noted darkly. "Every unit is tagged in and out. I felt the access imprint, even if these outsiders did not."

"Look, he just disappeared! He didn't leave, but he's nowhere on-site. I had a search made."

"Hm..." Solder rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He remembered Lathe; a hulking mech who specialised in critical rebuild technology. He would have been interested in the experimental triple-changers, being one himself (root mode, flight mode and a half-way stage of jet-powered 'formport) by default.

"Ah, Widget!" Retro exclaimed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Communications Hub #2

"Great!"

Relay left Reverb to watch his back and scurried down the long corridor. There were several doors leading off, as in Hub #3, and he paused briefly to listen at each one. Satisfied by the apparent lack of any looters, he made his way into what had been the main control room, again with extreme caution.

Luckily for him.

In the half-gloom, he could make out two suspicious shadows...

Dark Walk had nothing to say. He followed Jaggor, who was following Misfire, and kept the Overbite's head down so as not to see his reflection in that chrome coat.

Blackjack and Zephyr brought up the rear of the group, the latter trudging the corpse of the Seeker while complaining softly.

Blackjack had to transform into vehicle mode to keep up with the larger strides of the larger transformers. While Solder and Retro conferred amongst themselves, the Micromaster tried to listen as much as he could, but he couldn't hear that much due to their whispering, but Blackjack gathered that one of their comrades has disappeared. Or passed away.

The Decepticon didn't particularly care, and he did not want to annoy Retro by asking too much questions, so he kept quiet while driving alongside the boots of the Seekers.

As they approached a mech who was identified as Widget, Blackjack transformed and looked him up at down, sizing him up. Blackjack gave the other transformer a faux-friendly smile, waiting for him — or one of the medics — to begin speaking.

"Nearly there." Misfire said to the silent Jaggor and Dark Walk. The Targetmaster indicated the indentation on the wall and ceiling where he had dogfighted (and subsequently defeated) by Stratus. "If I am not mistaken they disappeared through a hidden door right there..." Misfire said, as he pried open said door.

Misfire could dimly hear gunfire and he hastened his pace.

Reverb followed behind Relay, staying one set of doorways behind the other communications officer in order to better cover him. But when he saw the other robot stop short as he moved into the main control room, Reverb sped up his pace to catch up.

Crouching behind a crate that stood in the doorway, he whispered to Relay, "I can't make them out. Hostiles?"

"Tri-vee? Rots the brain module," Acid Storm told Detour. He hadn't really understood more than a snippet of what the Micromaster had said, though. Stratus's words, coming from farther away, were little more than a confusing jumble to him.

With a cavalier disregard for his own safety, he fired a laser blast toward the live rail underneath Stratus, hoping to melt it and cause the electricity to arc up into the traitor's underside...or electrify the entire station and kill them all. At this point, Acid Storm honestly didn't care either way.

Vindicator ducked back behind cover as a hail of laser fire flew past the area where he had just been standing. The scavengers were starting to gain the upper hand mainly due to the fact that they out numbered him.

Vindicator quickly popped out from cover and fired a few burst at the nearest target. He managed to hit the Scavenger and could see the shot had knocked him down, but he was unable to see if he had killed him or not.

Vindicator quickly ducked back down just before more of his cover was blown away by enemy fire.

He wouldn't be able to keep this up. He was running low on ammo and the scavengers were slowly tring to move around and surround him.

As Vindicator moved look around the corner he could see that one of the Scavengers was trying to flank him.

Vindicator took am and opened fire on the scavenger blowing off one of its arms in the process, he could hear it screaming in pain and anger.

Reloading quickly Vindicator knew he would have to come up with a new plan, fast.

Widget was a somewhat spindly and sad-looking Minibot; his optics were very pale blue, the lower half of his face concealed behind a plate. Fate had seen him created with a red, silver and blue livery that recalled Optimus Prime, but, sadly, without much of a personality chip.

He favoured Blackjack's smile with a blank stare. "'Port, sir," he said to Retro and stepped aside to reveal the antique anti-grav trolley he had been dragging.

Retro gestured for Zephyr to come forwards. "Seekers are not a heavy line and he's missing his guns and wings..." he noted.

Stormfire's lip curled, but he restrained his first impulse - to smack some respect into the medic - and, instead, gave Zephyr a dark look that, hopefully, advised him not to over-react.

"They haven't moved," Relay told Reverb quietly. "Could have heard us coming; could be waiting for us to make a mistake. I'm going to try to draw their fire."

Before Reverb might object, Relay half rose and raced from the doorway towards one of the upright computer banks. As he did so, intent on getting into a safe position, he passed in front of a dimly-lit smaller panel. Immediately, the two shadows shifted...

"Weapons' fire," Jaggor snarled. "Echo says at least five kliks." He leapt forwards, dragging out his rifles and pounded away from his comrades.

"I do not honestly believe I could even coax a run out of this thing," Dark Walk pointed out to Misfire, referring to his stolen Overbite body. "It will be over before we get there, unless your flight capabilities are adequate for us both?"

Misfire shook his head at Dark Walk's request. "My afterburners are toast after the scruffle with Stratus. Can't even fly." Misfire demonstrated this fact by engaging his engines, only to have them sputter out.

Yet another testament to how useless I am...

Aimless asked, "Can't you move out of that Overbite shell? I mean, the enemy would be more spooked by a wraith than one of his clone troops."

When someone abruptly spoke, Misfire turned around, brandishing Aimless, "Who's there? Show yourself!"

Nearby, Detour magno-clamped his pinprick lasers onto his waist, and searched in his subspace pocket for anything, anything at all which could be used in against a charging train...

Zephyr scowled, but the warning glance from Stormfire caused the Seeker not to lunge at the medic and tear him apart. Zephyr placed the corpse on the anti-grav trolley behind Widget. "Here." the Seeker hissed, anger apparent in his voice.

Blackjack, meanwhile, took his time in observing the area they were in. It was not very clean, but it wasn't run-down nor beat-up at all. The Micromaster noted several layers of dust on the walls and crevices, with what looked like dried mech fluid trailing on the dull walls. The Decepticon watched as Solder, Retro and Widget conversed, noting the latter's resemblance to Optimus Prime.

Blackjack did not say anything further and kept quiet, observing the medics...

Reverb set his jaw as Relay darted out -- he was going to warn the other Transformer against taking rash action, but obviously it was too late for that now.

So he watched the shadows closely, his hands gripping the handles of his twin carbines more tightly than they should have. He saw movement -- or at least, he thought he did -- where the shadows were, and without thinking he popped up and started firing. Most of his freeze rays and heat beams missed their mark by a wide margin, though, and Relay might have been in more danger than his actual attackers.

Acid Storm didn't hear the train coming, but the bright reflection of its' lights caught his attention just in time. He vaulted to one side, firing again in Stratus's general direction as he desperately tried to clear the oncoming vehicle...only to have it catch his right leg below the knee and send him tumbling to the ground just off the track.

The seeker clutched at his mangled leg with one hand as he tried to bring his gun back up with the other.

Stratus stumbled backwards and tripped.

His body arced as it recieved a jolt of electricity from the live rail.

Desperately he sent an activation code to his confederates just before the train loomed over him.

Grabbing on to the front of the train he was pulled along his legs skittering for purchase . One slipped and disappeared under the front of the train.

Unlike Stratus or Acid Storm, being a pint-sized Micromaster meant that Detour didn't have to worry much about the train. He merely flattened himself on the wall as the train thundered past.

On times like this I thank Thunderwing for building me in a tiny body... Detour mused to himself. Funny how a small body can be a handicap and an advantage all at the same time. Still, couldn't hurt to have more guns, though...

"Storm!" Detour called out as the seeker seemingly got pulled by the force of the train, and breathed a sigh of relief when he turned out to be alright. Detour, did, however, grin in devilish delight when he saw Stratus being slammed by the train. The Micromaster transformed into his sleek Cybertronian car mode, and shot off towards the general direction of the battle. His pinprick lasers popped out from the side of his hood, searching for targets...
