Metroplex command deck

Post by verytired »

Fizzle pondered.
"We should construct it on Metroplex grounds I think: most of the teams here after all: Me and Perceptor can start assembling the CPU's in the Lab. Huffers seems good for the project, but we can put out an APB to all available Techs and Mechs when we have the materials over here. Does this place have a Body Shop, god knows it's big enough..."
Fizzle Opened a communication to the Fort Max Command deck :"Hey everyone. Um, is there anyone over there able to truck over the 5 tons of Durabyllium that Brainstorms assigned to us? Ah, over?"
he turned to Backstreet: "I hate using the comms."

Fort Max Security

Guzzle and Sizzle strolled in and saluted Siren and Streetwise "where'd you want us?" asked the large, tankish fellow.

Metroplex Command Deck

Backstreet smiled to Fizzle.

" I know, my function is to be a lookout, a sort of scout for Autobot battle squads, and look at me, managing Metroplex sensors and eventually the comms station! But honestly, I prefer this work; I think it's more important... and I don't have to fight... "

The turbolift doors parted, and Hubcap entered the room. He spared a friendly nod for Inferno, then took his place behind the communications console.

Steve wasn't quite sure how to answer Rosdos.

"I'm not sure," the human driver said. "I've seen some stuff about them on the news, but I'm not sure if they're around right now."

Wrecker Meeting, Metroplex

"I hope so" Sandstorm whispered back to Whirl, breaking off his request to go on the suggested recon mission, then added just as quietly "Sittin' here and talkin' like a diplomat isn't my idea of fun"

* * * * * *

Between Bases

"Alright" Devcon replied, scanning the 'wounds' he had recieved, checking that they would fool Red Alert, given the security director's reputation, then prepared to give Blaster a lift home "Which base?"

"So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything, I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten? They'll swing back to the belief that they can make people better. And I do not hold to that. So no more runnin'. I aim to misbehave" - Captain Mal Reynolds

Meeting Room, Metroplex:

Grimlock: -shakes head sadly, makes 'tsk'ing sound- "You not as smart as you think you are. If worried about underwater defenses, need to give anybody manning them something else to worry about. Like big Autobot ship in orbit."

Fortress: -optics de-focus for a moment, then re-focus- "Trypticon's starting to descend towards..... Cuba?"

Roadbuster: -over commlink- "Maybe the 'Cons are developing a taste for cigars."

********************
"Wrecker's Bay", Metroplex:

Roadbuster: -hits 'hold' tab on commlink, looks over at Sandstorm- "I don't like it either. But better this than being told later what their glorious plans to get us blown to metalic confetti are. Might even get them onto a more aggressive footing for once in their lives........" -takes commlink off of 'hold'-

*********************
Security Office, Fort Max:

Siren: -waves absently at Guzzle and Sizzle, still looking at the fragmented information from Hound's report- "Any idea what anybody would want with a few thousand miles worth of electrical conduit?"

**********************
Command Deck, Fort Max:

Brainstorm: -watching Trypticon descend through the upper atmosphere- "I wonder why they're going to Cuba......" -activates commlink- "You should be able to check a hovercart out of stores, Fizzle. That should be able to carry it with no problems at all."

***********************
Medbay, Metroplex:

Minerva: -scans Chainclaw- "No, no fur fungus." -looks at Chainclaw and Tailgate- "Now, if the two of you aren't doing anything else at the moment, I could use a hand putting Omega Supreme back together."

Metroplex, west landing pad

The Aerialbots arrived to the landing pad, and Skydive made use of the situation to explain his tactical doubts to his brothers.

" Look 'bots, I've thinking about our last battle performance and I think we can do things better. "

" What are you talking about? ", asked Slingshot with an upset vocal modulation.

" I'll share my concerns with Silverbolt, of course, but first I would to known what do you think about my new... tactical suggestion ", continued the strategist totally ignoring the vtol.

Air Raid and Fireflight were paying attention, and even Slingshot looked at Skydive with a badly disguised interes.

" Next time we'll fight the 'cons, after we broke the formation of the Decepticon's flying elements, I think we must merge into Superion inmediatly. Last time individual 'cons defeated some of us, and we weren't capable to form Superion and defeat their gestalt."

Optimus looked around at the gathered members intently, and considered their suggestions carefully. Care would be needed in either of the two plans put forward, so that the liklihood of casualties would be reduced. External reconnaisance of the Nemesis had proven in the past to be difficult at best, while a full assault on any part of the Decepticon force would very likely overextend the Autobot ranks and result in an opening for the enemy forces to counter on the cities again. Long-term effects were what the Autobot leader was after, but not at any cost.

He looked at each member again and then sought to compare his own thoughts against his strategist.

"I've heard the ideas put forward. The Nemesis presents a target that the Decepticons will not expect us to be able to attack, with valid reason.
Prowl - what are the possibilities for success, both with recon and with an attack on the Nemesis?"

The answer came quickly.
"Early reports from the Quebec team indicate some unexplained energy diversion of extreme proportions, Prime. It is early, but the differential indicates that the Decepticons are behind it. More time to study the report and the gathering of more information is needed to confirm or allieviate the indicators. We also know from previous recon that the Nemesis has a pipeline going to it for sourcing power. The two have an expected association rate of approximately 74.21221%.

Red Alert is correct that an external attack on the Nemesis would put us at a severe disadvantage, with only a 34. 53% success factor. The likelihood of success would further deteriorate to 17.754% if the Decepticon aquatic forms were in locale at the time of the attack.

Success for an external gathering of information from non-aquatic autobot scouts rates at nearly the same, and adding a diversionary attack in the vicinity raises to approximately a 28% increase, which raises the factor to an expectation of 62.53%."

Prowl paused for a moment and then opened and closed his hand as he ran through more data. The danger for what the strategist was about to suggest was extreme, but the recon was needed.

"Optimus, all other Decepticon activity aside, I must advise sending two scouts to do external recon and provide a diversion, and send a third through the pipeline to penetrate the perimeter of the ship, while sending a small above-ground group to cause an additional diversion. The two external scouts would provide a single diversion, increasing the possibility of a successful mission by another third. I am in agreement with Grimlock. We must have more information from that location if we are to learn if the Decepticons are behind the energy siphon and if they are, what is happening to all of that energy."

The autobot leader remained silent as he considered the information and then asked, "What of an attack on Trypticon?"

"I believe we'd be more successful in an attempt to hinder or destroy Metrotitan, Prime. Metrotitan is less likely to be highly guarded, and the Quebec reports indicate there have been modifications and enhancements both in armour and weaponry done to Trypticon. However, hindering or destroying Trypticon would severely cripple the Decepticon's offensive capabilities and unit movement capabilities.

To perform an offensive attack on Trypticon now... would be possible with a success rate of an estimated 65.63231%. This is dependent upon the continued cooperation of all of our allied Autobot groups."
*Prowl motioned with a hand sweep to the communication line to the Wreckers.*

"The amount of online battle-ready personnel is sufficent to maintain the external defenses of our citybot bases. Internal defense of Metroplex will now be upgraded to prevent any more unauthorized individuals from being able to enter. All Autobots will now be identified by their energy signature and code key upon entry arrival, and the only humans that will remain with free access are the Witwicky family...
*Prowl looked pointedly at Red Alert*
who have been our trusted allies since our arrival on this planet."

Though Prowl didn't really believe that there was much more the Witwicky family could do to be of service for the Autobots, he knew well that they were favored with most of the original crew. He understood too that many of the refugee Autobots did not view organics as equal to themselves, and needed to be reminded of the way they must perform within autobot standard protocols while on the organic planet.

"Let's go see how the bots fixin' up my nest on Metroplex are comin'." Blaster replied to Devco. Blaster was trying to sound cheery despite the obviously upsetting circumstances that he was under.

"Alright" the bounty hunter replied solemnly, still waiting for Blaster to get in his cockpit "Hop in, and we'll do just that"

Sandstorm frowned, glancing at the other Wrecker, wondering why Roadbuster had spoken up when the triplechanger hadn't spoken to him.

Meeting Room, Metroplex:

Grimlock: -nods- "Wreckers probably best choice to take out Metrotitan. Suggest sending Omega Supreme as transport and backup." -taps table briefly- "If set right, should also send 'Cons running in all directions at once. Start with decoying Scorponok away from Metrotitan. Suggest using power-up of Steelhaven. Move ship towards Antarctica, make them respond. Wreckers hit Metrotitan. Steelhaven move away, heading for Nemesis, bombard site from orbit."

Fortress: "What if Steelhaven isn't combat ready?"

Grimlock: -looks over at Fortress- "Think upgrades to Maximus ready to be tested?"

Fortress: "Yes. Everything should be re...... Oh, no....." -sighs- "All that's left is testing them under battle conditions. Brainstorm assures me that everything is ready to go. Although we should have somebody down with the ship's main power generator to monitor it. Probably Brainstorm, since he's the one who set it up. And the deflector array is online, though it, too requires actual battle testing."

Grimlock: "And if everything online, use Maximus to keep Scorponok away from Steelhaven."

Medbay, Metroplex:

Minerva: -looks at Chainclaw and Tailgate- "First thing we need to do is diagnostics, see how badly damaged Omega is. Come on, guys." -heads out-

Wrecker Meeting

Getaway frowned as he thought about Scoop's question, trying to recall what he knew about the old ship.

"She has quite a few smaller guns for taking on fighters or shuttles," he said at last. "A few larger energy cannons too, for taking on other warships." His frown deepened. "There's the big axial cannon as well, but I wouldn't want to be onboard when they test-fired it after being abandoned for so many years."

Red Alert listened to the various voices filtering in over the comlink to the Wrecker meeting, but when he spoke up, he answered Grimlock's thoughts.

"It's too bold," the security officer opined somewhat predictably. "If any of a thousand things went wrong, we'd lose the whole force. After we collect Steelhaven, if the ship is fully functional, then we can decide what to do with it. Right now, we should focus on assembling a salvage team...and keeping the enemy busy so they don't realize what we're up to."

Tailgate ruffled Chainclaw's head and followed Minerva to his new task, with a gentle inquiry.

"Fix big Omega? I could probably fetch you parts and such, if you load up what you need on my hood and I'll just magnetise it. Nothing too big though, think of my suspension!"

Tailgate transformed to his alt mode and gently revved his engine.

Wheelie emerged from the shadow of the door frame, giving a playful wink at Metroplex's surrounding internal surveillance equipment, before idly making his way back towards his quarters, deep in thought...

The other Aerialbots looked to Skydive.

" Well, will see what Silverbolt thinks about that... " said Fireflight.
" Sure! ", added Air Raid.
" Bah... I hate merging into Superion... ", growled Slingshot, " and I wasn't defeated in our last mission, unlike others! "

Skydive looked at his brothers, ignoring again Slingshot's comments.

" Meanwhile, we could fly over the Autobase, to finish testing our repaired bodies. Let me warn Fort Max Security... "

Skydive commed to Fort Max Security, where Siren and others were discussing about some intirguing data...

" Skydive to Fort Max Security, the Aerialbots will start to patrol Autobase perimeter. Do you copy? "

Red Alert narrowed his optics suspiciously as he glared at Grimlock, half-sure the Dinobot was trying to trick him into something. "Agreed," he said. "The sooner our force is launched, the better. We can decide what to do with the ship afterwards."

He turned to Prime, looking for his leader's approval.
