Medbay

A tech drone scurried up to the bed that Ruckus was dragging himself towards.

"What seems to be the problem?" it asked obtusely.

Nemesis, Medbay

Ruckus hissed indignantly at the medical drone.

"My leg you nickel plated numbskull, fix my leg!"

The Triggercon's missile launchers locked into position, again there were no signs of Ruckus's ordanance arming itself. Looking upward in disbelief, he slumped to the floor of the Medbay in total defeat.

"Just fix my leg and my launchers, I need to get back in the action!.........Please?"

Nemesis, Corridors

Flywheels sauntered through the numerous halls, idly looking for some action. Pausing at an appropriate intersection, the Duocon opened an intercom channel and lazily checked the sight on his laser rifle.

" Flywheels to the command deck. Who's in charge of this junkpile? How does a 'con get some payback these days?"

Hatemonger waited for Soundwave to reply. Eyeing the Decepticon carefully just in case he was trying to rouse the general.

Cryotek stood and leaned on the wall not incredably worried something in the brig made him feel everything would be OK. So he just waited.

Medbay

The tech drone glanced down at Ruckus with clinical detachment, entirely blind to the Decepticon's anger and desperation. It's only concern was that the patient had specified the medical work that was needed.

It waved a team of it's fellow drones over. Working together, they levered the damaged Triggercon up onto a surgical bed, then set to work reattaching his seperated limb.

Brig

Bugly walked up beside Hatemonger, arms crossed in a posture of impatience.

"He's not very talkative today, it would seem..."

Airlock

Concentrating on the visual feed being sent back by his shell, Octopunch monitored the drones' work upgrading the ship's armour.

Brig

Hatemonger nodded to Bugly.

"He was on the verge of system crash, so it will probably be a moment or two before the energon kicks his systems back to normal."

It took Soundwave several minutes to absorb enough energon in order to allow him to even consider transforming. When his internal indicators registered an acceptable level, he was ready. He slowly transformed his body to robot mode and then sat up on the table on which he lay. He ached. It had been an eternity since he had last transformed.

He regarded Hatemonger cooly. Hatemonger was an upstart, but he was dangerous and Soundwave's bargaining posture was not good at the moment.

"I agree to your requests Hatemonger." He paused, he choose his next words carefully - he didn't want to push his luck. "Restore my function to optimum levels and have a medbay drone do a complete cranial diagnostics check on my systems - I am registering an unknown fault.". Again, he hesitated to allow his words to sink in. "Next, return my cassetticons and then we will be yours to command."

Soundwave's fate and his future was in their hands - all he could do was wait and let them act. He could be patient...

Hatemonger nodded to Soundwave.

"Good enough." He then looked at the medical drones Cryotek and Bugly.

"Get him to the med bay and see that he is repaired. If needed call Hook or one of the Constructors to get his systems checked out." Hatemonger then looked at Soundwave.

"As for the cassettecons, they are your dominion I am not sure where they are but I am sure you can call them back when you are back online. Welcome back." Hatemonger said leaving the brig.

He figured Soundwave didn't have enough power to try to be much of a pain and that he knew being in the Nemesis he really had no other choice but to return to the fold or be destroyed. That and he couldn't deny what Soundwave ment for the Decepticon army.

"Scorponok, Soundwave is back online and going to recieve medical aid. Once Gigatron returns I shall give him a full report and have him meet with Soundwave." Hatemonger said in his com-link to the city master.

Cryotek looked over a Bugly then the drones and Soundwave.

"Welll shall we?" He said as the drones brought Soundwave out of the brig on a medical table and they started for the medical bay.

Brig

Bugly ignored Cryotek's query for the moment, instead turning his concentration towards Soundwave. He used a Circuit-Su technique to extend an invisible tendril of dark energy towards the communications officer in an attempt to read the other Decepticon's aura. He was only mildly sucessful, though; all he could discern was that the communications officer didn't seem to intend any immediate treachery (of course, one could have determined that just as well from Soundwave's physical condition).

Finally looking towards Cryotek, he nodded.

"Yes, lets."

Turning on his heel, he followed the medical drones towards the medbay.

Holodeck

The blissful chaos of simulated battle was disturbed when Hatemonger's transmission crackled over Scorponok's comlink.

"Excellent," the massive Decepticon replied with even more irritation than he usually displayed. "If the traitor steps out of line before Gigatron returns, feel free to squash him. Is there anything else?"

As he asked, the holographic ground shook underneath him from a near-miss by one of the holographic Maximus' heavy guns.

Ruckus watched with ghoulish interest as the simple drones expertly weaved the Triggercon's detached leg and it's subsidiary components back to his supine form with surgical precision.

A few stabs of pain shot through his system, but slowly and surely, the feeling began to return to his prodigal limb.

"Nice work drones, but I still need you to fix the arming mechanism on my launchers too."

Amid the sparks and the hum of the scalpels, Ruckus was sure he heard the sound of approaching foosteps.

The drones said nothing, but set to work repairing the mechanisms inside Ruckus' launchers.

Meanwhile, the room's doors slid open to admit Bugly and the entire procession that was accompanying Soundwave to the medical bay.

For his part, the Pretender spared a slightly contemptuous glance at the Triggercon (although considering that he usually looked at people with moderate contempt at the very least, it could be inferred that he actually respected his fellow Decepticon). However, he didn't divert from his task of guarding the still-suspect communications officer.

Cryotek walked in as Soundwave was set down.

"Well now lets have a look shall we." He said as he started to activate a group of sensors and repair equipment.

Brig

Hatemonger started to leave the brig as he spoke to Scorponok.

"Actually, yes, one of our comrades on the Tokyo mission is a traitor." With that Hatemonger sent the news reel of Squeezeplay assisting the Autobots.

"How should we handle this little problem?" He asked. "Frankly, with Soundwave back and the underwater drones working on the Nemesis I would like to travel to Tokyo and assist." He said bouncing ideas off the city commander.

Holodeck

Scorponok, now in his gigantic city-robot mode (although most of the body was made up of holographic componants), charged across the battlefield to engage his holographic nemesis.

"Don't bother," he told Hatemonger. "Gigatron will be leaving before you could get there. Why don't you work up a plan for getting vengeance on this traitor instead? Find out who his friends are, what he cares about...then draw him out and crush him!"

With that last word, the city commander slammed one of his massive claws into the holo-Fort Max's face. A loud clang would reverberate through the comm line.

Hatemonger laughed slightly.

"Ahh the Maximus holo-vid, an excellent choice." Hatemonger said.

"Frankly I'd rather just show Gigatron the footage and see what happens." He snarled not exactly wanting to waste more time than needed on Squeezeplay.

Holodeck

Scorponok ducked under holo-Maximus' return punch, then drove his head into his titanic foe's chest. The Autobot stumbled backwards.

"If you'd rather," he answered Hatemonger in a tone of voice that suggested he couldn't care less about the subject. "Gigatron enjoys these things more than us, anyway."

The holographic Maximus lunged forward, thrusting his fist at the Decepticon city. Scorponok side-stepped the attack, clamped a claw on his foe's elbow, and drove his knee up into the Autobot's midsection. The sound of metal being torn filled the air.

Medbay

Ruckus quietly flexed his repaired knee joint, careful not to attract too much attention to himself. This was an interesting situation, for here was the renegade Soundwave recieving medical treatment, albeit under armed guard.

Come to his sensors has he? With an energo blade to his throat no doubt...

The Triggercon let a cruel smile creep across his veneer as his missile launchers locked into place with a satisfying hum, declaring their succesful repair.

With a deft wave of his hand, Ruckus waved away the drone, but remained supine, keenly listening for any further developments...

Hatemonger continued to listen to Scorponok train.

"Also, I would like you to view whatever footage the probe at Cybertron has gathered. But in regards to Squeezeplay and perhaps the probe as well I could wait until Gigatron returns." Hatemonger said wondering what Scorponok was doing to his Autobot target.

*************************************

Cryotek looked at Soundwave.

"I am not exactly sure why your mental circuits are all messed up. Looks like you have a few loose wires and some other normal issues due to lack of energon and such." He looked on as some drones buzzed and probed the communications officer.

"Your call on what you would like done to your mental circuits. It's your head." Cryotek said waiting to see what Soundwave wanted done.

The tech drone and his team retreated into a nearby alcove as Ruckus shooed them away, but kept watch on the assembled Decepticons should their services be called on once more.

Bugly, for his part, quickly sensed that the Triggercon's attention had shifted over to the group assembled around Soundwave. The Circuit-Su master quickly ran through everything he knew about the smaller Decepticon (admittedly, not much; as far as he could recall, he and the combat assault specialist hadn't worked together on any missions).

A talented warrior. Brave, if not reckless. I don't think I've ever heard of him to get caught up in politics, though. He shouldn't be a problem.

Holodeck

Scorponok took a step backwards, as if daring the holographic Autobot to come forward and attack him.

"Best to wait on the probe as well," he told Hatemonger. "If you download it's reports now, the Quintessons might detect the transmission and destroy it. Gigatron may have special plans for the device that we don't know about."

Holo-Maximus did indeed step forward, but before he could attack Scorponok's claw slammed into his chin. With a ripping sound that would terrify any Headmaster, the holographic Autobot's head tore off.

Soundwave considered for a moment.

"Investigate circuits Z20090 thru P806. The fault appears to lie there. I shall summon my cassetticons to this location."

Soundwave patched a link through to Laserbeak and instructed him to lead the cassetticons to the medbay.

Medbay

Ruckus pulled himself to his feet and shifted his weight to his re-attached limb.

Feels good..

The Triggercon had observed the situation unfold within the Medbay with increasing disinterest. The assault trooper knew better that to involve himself in matters that didn't concern him, he was a soldier not a politician.

Ruckus walked past the entourage and nodded a silent greeting at his larger comrades, he paused to stare at the imprisoned Soundwave, before gesturing towards Bugly.

"You could at least have disected him."

Corridors

Flywheels switched off his communicator and slung his rifle over his shoulder.

This is a slagging ghost town, where is everybody?

The Duocon slowly began to make his way along the deserted corridor. A wry smile on his face, Flywheels raised a hand to his mouth and amplified his audio module, to mimic an organic projecting its voice.

"Heeeeellllllooooooooooooooooooo....."

Medbay

Bugly took a moment to gaze contemptuously at Soundwave before he turned to Ruckus (in truth, the look was more for the Triggercon's benefit than anything else; the communications officer was perceptive enough to know his true feelings even without using his thought-reading abilities).

"We may yet," he said with cold amusement. "Gigatron has chosen to let the traitor live...but he said nothing about making him comfortable. When he returns, he may have some interesting plans for our friend Soundwave."

Even as he said it, the Pretender knew his words were false; Gigatron may have had a cruel streak, but the leader wasn't foolish enough to waste resources keeping Soundwave alive just to torture him.

No. He let him live because he has a use for him. This bears further investigation, I think...
