Fansproject Defender

Post by Lonewyrm »

The Fansproject Defender (Springer) project seems to be further along, they've got pics of a prototype up on the website now

Robot Mode:

Looks very decent to me. I imagine it'll be pricey though, wonder will I be able to justify spending 100 quid on this rather than big ROTF Devastator

Where are the knee joints?
No longer looking for RID Dreadwind, but I still need Smokejumper. I'm also in need of Mammoth Nemesis Prime's tail piece, as my figure lacks it. Send me a PM.

Looks good. But... no guns? No swords?

I'd say the two small guns from tank mode double as blasters for the robot, and looking at the rotors for the helicopter mode I'd say they split into twin swords - it looks like they're two separate things overlaid, the top left near the centre of the rotor looks like a hilt to me

Edit: As to the knee joints, good question, looks like he's got a dose of sideways ankles

I think you're right about the guns in the armoured carrier mode being his blaster. I think looking at the early prototype shots here, it looks like the two blades slide over the top of each other to form one sword.

Also the test shots in the original post have diecast!, wonder if that means the final product will be part diecast as well??

So are those die cast pieces or cleverly painted?

Die cast, dunno if that'll be the case on the final product

I could see it a bit in the Helicopter mode. Beyond that, yup.

The tank is where it fails for me. One thing Springer's land based alternate mode isn't is a tank. I'm not sure what the hell it actually is, but a tank it is not.

Oh thank God for that. If that wasn't so awful I might have bought it. That could be anyone, absolutely anyone.

I preordered one from BBTS a while back. Nice video review, but the guy should talk normal instead of that psuedo-radio...I found his voice a tad annoying.

The guy everyone usually watches, Peaugh, made one too. He speaks normally. It's twenty minutes long, though.:o

I got one.

It's ok... not as impressive as City Commander.

The head snapped off 5 min out of the box, but I was able to do a nice repair.

(The repair was drill a hole in the bottom of the head and in the nech and instal a pin. Head cab spin 360 degrees but can't look up or down. )

Colors are cool and the transformation is fun.

In the end though he is rather generic other than the very close chest piece and a quasi-Springer head.
Come on and wind me up.

Like it. Would go for a mass-release / maker'd one.
