I'm not sure why these small issues couldn't be resolved,
DX9 shoes and other gubbins from the upgrade kit? That was my original plan. In the end decided against having a Megatron in the ragtag bunch of Decepticons that includes a bunch of other sometime leaders.

Hmm... I'll need to have a closer look at that. It doesn't work well in tank mode. But it doesn't fix those crap shoulders... If it did would be an instant purchase.
New sale thread added with a range of Transformers including Masterpiece, Botcon, CHUG, RID, Movies etc.
Looking for MP-11T Thundercracker and MP-9 Rodimus v2 (Takara version with as few QC issues as possible).
While back I put down an order for the Wave 3 CW Deluxes, and at the time I also saw that the iGear Defense Specialist was on sale so I grabbed that too.
Wanted to get pics of him and CW First Aid together with original head on until I swapped it for one of the three Ratchet heads he comes with. Little bit finicky, but the Specialist looks great. I want to say that there's some kind of decal that replaces the white-on-red cross on his shoulders with the Cybertronian red cross symbol seen on some medics in the IDW comics. Something to look into.
In spite of having no room for another combiner and thus not wanting to buy any Protectobots to avoid falling into the same trap that I did with the Aerialbots, that First Aid looks damn good. I'm totally going to buy one if I see it.

My immediate thought upon seeing it with the Ratchet head was "that would be perfect without the ghastly red shoulders". The colours are way nicer than the original Ratchet deco they put out a while back.

It's weird - I'm not really big on the Stunticon molds in generally, and I'd say Off Road is probably the weakest of the bunch, but I guess it's all a matter of how they're presented 'cause I love this mold deco as First Aid for whatever reason. If it had to complain I'd say that seen from the sides or the wrong angle, you can plainly see how fat the lower legs are, but they kinda have to be for the transformation so it's a minor thing.

I agree. I mean, the only really great big difference is that there's more of a balance now between the white and red, and that all of the heads have a silver head crest rather than a black one. The latter is really just up to personal taste, so I guess the former is what makes the big difference? Also, I found the decals I was looking for - Reprolabels, naturally.
Denyer wrote:Older stuff, yeah, but if it's Amazon themselves selling (and it's a bit random what the US site will and won't ship to the UK) it can work out nicely.
I'm finding that even the brand new stuff is all scalper prices. A quick search of Combiner Wars has deluxes ranging from $19 to $27, voyagers from $23 to $45, and all the legends on the first page are over $20. And many of those are "fulfillment by Amazon". I just think that's really strange that they've got such rotten and random prices on Transformers.
Impression? Positive. The city mode is a lot bigger than Metroplex's, and looks a lot more convincing too. Metro suffers from a bad case of not really looking like anything besides a robot sitting spreadeagle with it's torso exploded all over the place. Trypticon at least has a solid center section. But as for the battlestation mode...if Metroplex's legs actually locked together, I'd give him the vote for a better third mode.
ooh jealous! I want me a Trypticon! I'm saving up for one (hopefully the reissue, if the prices don't go too mental - he doesn't seem to be as freely available as the other reissues this year have been)
Picked up the Combiner Wars Protectobots today minus Groove and Blades (I've got Alpha Bravo though so he can substitute for now) from Smyths. They seem to have skipped over wave two though?
Good news is the limbs are currently down to a highly reasonable £11:99 at the mo and I also found a Sky Byte tucked away behind a sea of Roadbusters at the back of the shelf for £16:99 so I snagged him.

I bought Alpha Bravo with a 20% off voucher from Toys 'R' Us on Sunday.
Firefly was reduced from $30 to $25 at Target, so I decided to grab him on Tuesday &
I picked up Silverbolt from Myer at the same time as Firefly as he was down to $40 from $50.
Interestingly, the third wave of Combiner Wars as made an appearance down here as well, although it's the deluxe Protectobots only at the moment and I haven't seen anything of the wave two in a few months (even then it was only the deluxes), although I'm hoping at least Target or Toys 'R' Us get them soon.
Found Blades in Tesco today! Again they seem to have skipped wave two there as well. Checked the entertainer too but they were still on wave one. Oddly enough they had a lot of Roadbusters just appear out of nowhere too.

Denyer wrote:Any sign of Hasbro releasing the deluxe scale Groove? Tempted to build up Defensor as individual members if I see them on shelves...
None as of yet. Last I heard on the subject was an unsubstantiated claim from someone from 4chan, who says they asked someone from Hasbro after a panel at Botcon and were told that deluxe Groove failed their drop tests.
Found Legends class Viper yesterday and snagged him. Not a whole lot to say about him other then he's Powerglide with a new head and awesome faction symbols. Oh and he seems to tab together much tighter then Powerglide does, which was a surprise.

Nope. Takara is also advertising deluxe Groove as an Asian exclusive, so I doubt we'll get him here.
I found his transformation a bit awkward straight out of the box and ended up stressing some of the plastic. That said he was less frustrating than other bots that rely on interlocking panels and I think his spinning tail/claw adds some nice play value that is often missing in the more realistic Generations beast TFs so I think he'll grow on me.

I ordered CW Slingshot/Quickslinger and Wildrider/Brake-neck this weekend. With a combo of shipping, sales tax, and Amazon price-gouging, they totaled just under $53 USD. But, I also got AoE Gen Drift and Power Battlers Snarl & Galvatron for $7 each at TJ Maxx. That averages out to $15 per figure, which is pretty good.
Drift makes me appreciate the size and simplicity of the CW Deluxes. It's hard to get all those panels to snap into place on a small figure. But, Drift's paint is much more impressive. I don't mean the number or detail of paint apps, just the quality of the paint itself.
PB Snarl is OK. His backpack springs formward when you push a lever, driving spikes into anyone standing in front of him. That's fun to fiddle with and, unlike his Gen counterpart, he as individual stegosaurus plates instead of banks of spikes molded together. I think I saw a Gen snarl on sale, too. I may pick up a spare and try cutting away the excess between the spikes.
PB Galvatron is the best of the 3. flip down his backpack, and his empty spark chamber juts out of his chest. The packaging says this is a grinder, and it does resemble ROTF Devestator's mouth a bit. But, this is Galvatron, so I think of it as a cannon.
Like the Voyager toy, he transforms into robot mode by flipping his truck cab inside out. There's good paint apps in both modes, and his torso looks better than the Voyager I saw in store.
I'm just not sure there's enough ground clearance in truck mode to stop the spark chamber edges from scraping the ground and getting chipped. There was a time when I'd assume Hasbro knew what they were doing enough to ensure that wouldn't happen. That time ended when I got Gen Nightbeat.
