If it equals the delightful daftness of the last couple of Devil's Due crossovers it could be good silly fun. I don't think there's any need to fear on at least that front. I've checked out Tom Scioli's website in the past, and I doubt he'd be able to write po-faced or perfectly straight -- or sane...

I suspect that horse has already bolted. Technically, the very very stupid Spinster in MTMTE is, officially, the same character as the smart Mayhem Attack member trying to protect his friend Needlenose in the Marvel stuff. Or the gibbering broken idiot in the Dreamwave Armada comic. So what makes F...

It was Decepticons as well, and the answers can be found here .... Ah, interesting. Thank you! Out of curiosity, what was the name of the story that established all that? (And it's too bad that the typo listing Hound among the birthers muddies the waters.) You know, it's a shame no one ever did det...

Whatever he might feel he'd do differently now I suspect he's still very proud about having done it. Oh, no doubt, and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. Whatever my problems with the story, its an undertaking on a scale that hasn't been matched before or since. He really ought to be proud. Not to m...

I read this for the first time just recently. Improved hugely on a second reading. Indeed for something I first read less than a year ago the amount of extra detail that didn't click the last time round is rather shameful. Even as someone who read this only once, I'm not the least bit surprised. You...

The thing that makes it so bad is that the Prime TV series, and the actual IDW G1 comics, are all doing exciting new thingsd. But when they put Prime into comic form, they somehow forgot they had good writers they could hire. Well, it's two of the Prime cartoon writers writing this thing, so there ...

Does anyone take Roberts-penned 'deaths' seriously anymore? Not counting Wreckers (which don't forget, he co-wrote with Roche) he's managed to kill off a grand total of Flywheels and some generics, while pretending to kill about fifteen characters with toys only to come back the next issue and be a...

I think the big difference with those properties is they are not tied to something percieved as juvenile like Transformers (and i doubt the films have honestly done much to improve that), plus the subject matter doesn't seem to be something that has 'name' creators beating a path to its door (its p...

And even that's not a safe bet since they seem to have blackballed Roche on the writing side of things for some reason I thought Roche said he was the one who decided to take a break to prevent himself from pulling a Figueroa. And he's been making sporadic noise at the IDW forums about an unannounc...

Re: Furman's approach to characterization - Sorry, Inflatable Dalek, I just don't see these quick character sketches you're talking about. Are you approaching it from the perspective of someone who already knows what's on the tech specs? Maybe that makes a difference. If you know the tech specs, the...

Wait, about that Techno-X thing, would that even have been possible for Marvel to publish? Doesn't Hasbro own the rights to all those characters (minus Circuit Breaker, who first appeared in SECRET WARS II, an appearance specifically done to secure her as Marvel's property instead of Hasbro's)? It's...

What probably really screwed Furman at Marvel was that he just isn't particularly good. He fits Transformers well but little else. DH is a great concept but it's shagged out within 10 issues. His Action Force stuff is basically identical to his TF scripts. I'd say it's not that he fit Transformers ...

Was Furman ostracized from Marvel?
Comic book writer Kurt Busiek once wrote a lengthy article about breaking into comics. In it, there's one point where he talks about how other people have broken in, and he mentions this bit that piqued my interest (bold emphasis mine): Scott Lobdell worked nights, so he came in at Marvel and DC dur...
