Decepticon High Command

Megatron

Function: Decepticon Leader

Megatron resumed command of the Decepticons a year ago and united his scattered followers under his banner once more. The faction that had recently resembled an assortment of street gangs has returned to being a single, unified army. Megatron himself is just as ruthless as ever, but the time he spent "away" has taught him to restrain his temper and act more rationally than he once did. Whether that makes him more or less dangerous remains to be seen.

Soundwave

Function: Military Operations Commander

With Megatron restored to the throne and the Decepticons returned to some semblance of order, Soundwave has assumed Shockwave's old role as top military commander. Although he prefers to let others take the lead while he manipulates from the background, the only other qualified candidate was Starscream so he couldn't say no. Though ultimately self-serving, Soundwave remains loyal to Megatron so long as his leader remains mentally stable.

Starscream

Function: Aerospace Commander

Given Megatron's self-admitted idiocy, it's no surprise that he gave Starscream another chance after betraying the Decepticons to Jhiaxus. But while Starscream wouldn't admit it, the time he spent combined with the Matrix has left him a changed mech -- though as craven and selfish as ever, he often has to fight off urges to actually be nice and help people. And though he's yet to learn it, the changes go much, much deeper than that.

The Constructicons

Scrapper

Function: Construction Engineer

A level-headed, intelligent Transformer, Scrapper is the Decepticons' chief engineer. As the Constructicons' leader he is more foreman than military commander, but he is very good at his job and gets the best out of his troops. He also gets the most of the resources at his command, often incorporating falled enemies into the structures he designs. According to Megatron, he is by far the most valuable Constructicon.

Bonecrusher

Function: Demolitions

A violent, destructive brute, Bonecrusher really isn't all that good at the "construction" part of the team's job. But he does a great job clearing out the structures (and enemies) that his teammates want to build over. He loves to show off for his comrades, proving just how totally he can level a city block or enemy fortification for them, and Scrapper appreciates his contributions.

Hook

Function: Surgical Engineer

A stuffy perfectionist, Hook is one of the most insufferable members of the Decepticon ranks. But his role as the faction's primary medic means that nobody can afford to get on his bad side. Though he does his job with expert precision, he insists on doing it perfectly with no regard for the suffering his comrades are enduring. But angering him might mean he won't fix you at all, and slow repairs are still better than no repairs at all.

Long Haul

Function: Transport

Long Haul desperately wishes he could fill another role, almost any other role, in the Decepticon army. He has daydreams of being a renowned warrior or a brilliant engineer...only for Scrapper to inevitably crush those dreams with yet another demand for materials transport. He knows better than to speak up about his dissatisfaction, but sometimes cannot help himself and his lack of enthusiasm is as clear as day to his fellow Constructicons.

Mixmaster

Function: Materials Fabrication

In the olden days all the best chemists were a but unhinged, and Mixmaster proudly follows along in their footsteps. He'll smelt down anything to make the materials the Constructicons need for their projects, including living robots and humans if necessary. He tends to approach even the simplest mixture with a massive amount of theatrics and high drama, which only serves to underscore his repuation as "nuts".

Scavenger

Function: Mining and Salvage

As hungry for approval as a puppy, Scavenger is perpetually driven to retrieve things of value for his fellow Decepticons in the hopes of gaining their approval. All it ever gets him, though, is their scorn. He often brings back useless junk, but he is a first-rate scrounger and salvager. The only person who seems to appreciate him even a little bit is Scrapper.

The Seacons

Snaptrap

Function: Seacon Team Leader

A powerful warrior, Snaptrap earned his command more due to his friendship with Megatron and his reputation as "The Butcher of the Bogs" than any actual skill as a unit commander. He's slowly learned to become a better leader, but has also slowly come to terms with the fact that he'll never rise any higher than he already has. But his brutal, straightforward tactics work well on a small unit level, making the Seacons as deadly as a unit as he is individually.

Nautilator

Function: Undersea Excavations

Bumbling, unseaworthy and generally useless, Nautilator has no excuse being a part of the Seacons. He can barely swim, rusts constantly, can't navigate underwater, is pretty much useless in a fight and constantly blames everyone else for his own mistakes. The only reason he's still alive is that he occasionally stumbles upon something useful on his salvage missions.

Overbite

Function: Undersea Terminator

One of the Decepticons' deadliest killers. He is vicious, focussed and relentless, never letting his chosen prey escape while he's physically capable of pursuing them. He makes no distinction between enemy soldiers and innocent bystanders -- if it crosses his path and he doesn't already have a target, he's driven to send it down to the bottom of the ocean.

Seawing

Function: Undersea Reconnaissance

A cold, distant figure, Seawing is feared by most of his fellow Decepticons. An expert subcommander, everyone from Snaptrap on up fully expect to have Seawing gunning for their jobs in the future. He absolutely is and makes no attempt to hide it, but attrition is high enough that he sees no reason to arrange his own promotions by force. He's simply set on outliving those above him, and being the best underwater observer he can in the meantime.

Skalor

Function: Amphibious Assault

A stinking, filthy, lazy oil-crusted slob, Skalor is easy to spot -- he's the guy that none of the other Seacons want to stand upwind of. He has absolutely no concern whatsoever for his personal hygiene, and figures that since he's used to his sorry state that it doesn't matter if anyone else is put out. The fact that his stench is sometimes all he needs to keep enemies at a distance is a plus in his books too.

Tentakil

Function: Underwater Demolitions

A polite, soothing person, Tentakil has a knack for charming his way into quick friendships and earning the trust of those around him. Of course, he's an irredeemable sociopath, so he inevitably takes advantage of that trust and access to get close enough to smother the life out of his new "friend". He takes sadistic pleasure in these killings, so much so that he would probably be a serial killer if the war didn't offer an outlet.

The Terrorcons

Hun-grrr

Function: Terrorcon Leader

Brilliant but lazy, Hun-grrr became the fourth-highest ranking officer in the Decepticon army by actively trying to avoid responsibility. He's really only interested in finding things to eat or pummel, which ironically makes him one of the most trustworthy Decepticons -- Megatron knows that he'll never try to seize power for himself. He and his Terrorcons are equivalent to the Dinobots, more interested in getting a chance to fight than who they're fighting.

Blot

Function: Foot Soldier

A smelly, socially-inept loser, Blot is hated by basically everyone who isn't a Terrorcon. The abuse that he's subject to has given him an intense inferiority complex, which only causes him to become even more isolated. Not all that bright, he finds it impossible to talk back to his tormentors. But anyone caught harassing him has to answer to Hun-grrr, who appreciates blot for what he is -- a wonderful soldier.

Cutthroat

Function: Shock Trooper

Cruel, savage and brutal, Cutthroat likes to cause pain and throws himself into it with his whole heart. The frenzied extremes of violence that he sinks into shock even his fellow Terrorcons, who will on occasion let him know that it's perhaps a bit much. But he's just as likely to turn on them as on the enemy, so they don't press the matter.

Rippersnapper

Function: Terrorist

A living embodiment of the Napoleon complex, Rippersnapper compensates for the flaws he sees in himself by lashing out at any sign of weakness in those around him. He's constantly talking about how he hates those "inferior" to him (which in his opinion is basically everyone) and takes any slight against his own abilities as a challenge to fight.

Sinnertwin

Function: Sentry

Twitchy and paranoid, Sinnertwin is always on the lookout for potential trouble. He guards Decepticon installations with a keen eye, ready to pounce on anything that's even slightly out of place. But small life forms spook him, and he's been startled into using his flame breath on small animals, insects and even allied Micromasters that sneak up on him.

The Stunticons

Motormaster

Function: Stunticon Leader

An abusive ass. Motormaster deeply resents Megatron for killing his subordinate Wildrider, and only grudgingly serves the Decepticon leader because he was given a position in command of Polyhex's defence garrison. Now he can heap abuse on practically everyone in the city instead of just the other Stunticons, though he makes sure to still find time for Breakdown, Dead End and Drag Strip too. He is loathed by all his troops and most of his peers.

Breakdown

Function: Scout

The obsessively paranoid Breakdown thinks he's always being watched. In his mind every car beside him on the street is an Autobot in disguise, every traffic signal is a camera reporting on his movements to Soundwave, every human is staring at him because they know he's not what he pretends to be and every single one of his fellow Decepticons hates him. He works himself up into such a lather that he has a hard time actually getting anything done.

Dead End

Function: Warrior

Dour, sullen and depressed, Dead End thinks life and everything in it is futile. Everyone is doomed to die, after all, so what's the point? Ironically, he's a tremendous soldier who fights harder than any two other Decepticons, because even though he's sure he'll end up in the junkyard someday he's adamant that it won't be today, dammit!

Drag Strip

Function: Warrior

A competitor in every element of his life, Drag Strip can't stand to lose. If it looks like you're going to beat him, watch out -- he's probably about to shoot you in the back! But his bad attitude and need to win make him a great soldier, because as long as he's on the battlefield and moving around, his team is not going to lose -- even if he needs to kill every single enemy himself!

The Decepticons

Barrage

Function: Gunner

Scorched earth personified. When Barrage takes the field, even his allies stand back. He destroys everything he can sight his guns on, deliberately causing more death and destruction than necessary in an attempt to crush any spark of hope his enemies might have. He expects the same ruthlessness from his comrades, which leads to some very vocal conflicts, especially with his new Autobot allies.

Bugly

Function: Strategist

Manipulative, meticulous and cruel. Bugly loves his job, especially the control that it allows him to exert over his fellow Decepticons. A follower of Circuit-Su, he has spent eons studying how to control the powers of his own life-force and the life energies that pervade the universe. This is an extension of his philosophy, which seeks to control everything around him -- including himself. The distant, aloof manner that results makes him unpopular but respected.

Counterpunch

Function: Counterintelligence

The Autobot/Decepticon war involved a lot of secrets, and the peace is no different. With Soundwave now acting as second-in-command his counterintel duties have been passed on to Counterpunch, a dedicated spy who spent many years in an Autobot detention camp. He is meticulous, suspicious, intelligent...and a complete fraud. The actual Counterpunch died years ago, his memories and personality harvested as a cover ID for the Autobot Punch.

Darkwing

Function: Sneak Attack Specialist

Once a morose, brooding loser, Darkwing was rebuilt into a new, super-powerful body by Megatron and found a new lease on life. Though not quite optimistic, the miserable pessimism that dominated his earlier life has passed to a greater extent. He still tries to convince his comrades that they're doomed, but now he does it for fun instead of out of genuine belief. Though his Nebulan partner is dead, he traded up -- his new body comes complete with a drone jet.

Dreadwind

Function: Aerial Defense

Dreadwind, on the other hand, genuinely is every bit as gloomy as Darkwing acts. He always acts as if his best friend just got killed, which is ironic when you consider that the only friend he's ever had is Darkwing. Everyone else keeps their distance, since he's got an uncanny ability to make any room feel like a wake. His Nebulan partner Hi-Test is a perfectionist who constantly nags Dreadwind to keep his mind on his work.

Fangry

Function: Tracker

If he wasn't an uncontrollable psycho, Fangry would be a fantastic soldier. He's still one of the most dangerous Decepticons, but he's just as dangerous to allies as enemies. Terribly rebellious, he automatically hates anyone in a position of authority. His commanders need to either gently suggest courses of action to him or physically best him to establish the pecking order. His Nebulan partner Brisko has a photographic memory but Fangry hates him.

Kickback

Function: Espionage

A charming, clever Decepticon, Kickback is fantastic at manipulating people to do his bidding, either by feigning friendship or through simple blackmail. With his firm grasp of psychology and cunning tactical mind, he is one of the Decepticons' best when it comes to recruiting assets. He takes a sadistic pleasure in making his "friends" progressively destroy themselves carrying out his bidding.

Krok

Function: Foot Soldier

Formerly second-in-command to Decepticon leader Bludgeon, Krok managed to keep his head down and avoid the purge that claimed so many of his former master's troops. He's found himself reduced to a menial role though, serving as a lowly ground trooper in the war against the second-generation Transformers. The aggressive, athletic Decepticon is good at the job but yearns for something more meaningful.

Mindwipe

Function: Hypnotist

A Decepticon mystic, Mindwipe spends his free time trying to contact the essences of dead Transformers. He has had limited success at this, but his skills should not be underestimated. He is a talented hypnotist with a keen understanding of how the Cybertronian mind works. His Nebulan partner Vorath, formerly an amoral scientist, has helped Mindwipe bring a more methodical approach to his research.

Pounce

Function: Infiltrator

Pounce is probably the Decepticons' best field agent. Antisocial and vicious, he has absolutely no moral code and does anything he needs to without a moment's hesitation. His reputation precedes him, making him seem even more of a monster than he actually is. Fellow spies are so terrified of failing him that they put in extra effort. He loves his brother Wingspan, but doesn't understand him and is ashamed of his more passive leanings.

Ransack

Function: Warrior

Ransack tries his hardest to meet the standard that his partner Barrage sets, but his mind isn't up to it. Where Barrage's destruction is carefully, meticulously crafted, Ransack's is mindless. He's just as likely to unload a magazine into a forest as an enemy soldier. He's also a ruthless bully to those weaker than him.

Ransak

Function: Reconnaissance Fighter

One of the new generation of Decepticons, Ransak was one of the targets of Ransack's bullying. Forced to change the spelling of his name because it confused the Insecticon. Suave and charming, he makes friends among the other Decepticons and Autobots easily. He's sneaky and observant, but tries to leave the fighting to his more brutish comrades whenever he can.

Shrapnel

Function: Electronic Warfare

Brutally sadistic and nasty. He relishes battle, especially the pain that he inflicts on his enemies and the sounds of their anguished screams as his electric blasts arc through them. Ambitious and treacherous like all the Insecticons, he jumps on anything that can advance his position within the Decepticon ranks.

Sixshot

Function: Solo Transformer Assault Group

Six modes worth of destruction and death, Sixshot is the penultimate Decepticon killing machine. Only a handful of Transformers could ever hope to match his deadliness. His comrades tend to see him more as a weapon than a person, leaving him feeling alienated and distant. In fact, he feels more kinship for those he has killed than those he fights alongside -- because he's just as dead on the inside as they are on the outside.

Skullcruncher

Function: Swamp Warrior

A dimwitted soldier with a nervous tic that causes him to grind his beast-mode teeth before attacking. Skullcruncher is also cannibalistic, with a tendancy to chew on the corpses of anyone he manages to kill. His fellow Decepticons try to avoid being paired with him, finding his habits disgusting. His Nebulan partner Grax, sadly, does not have that option.

Skywarp

Function: Warrior

Skywarp has the potential to be the most dangerous of all Decepticons, but his slow wits hold him back. As one of the few who have the ability to teleport he has a massive advantage over his enemies...or he would if he ever remembered that he could do it without someone reminding him. He's more prankster than fighter though, and having him around is good for unit morale.

Squeezeplay

Function: Warrior

One of the most physically dangerous Decepticons, Squeezeplay is often criticized for not using his head. He's not dumb -- far from it! -- but he hates having to think and really prefers to just do what he's told. He's basically unstoppable, but nowhere near the menace he'd be if he thought before he acted. His Nebulan partner Lokos is a sneaky pirate who is happy to revel in his partner's brute strength, but nevertheless tries to steer him toward thinking more.

Thrust

Function: Warrior

A preening coward, desperate to seem braver than he actually is. Thrust assumes that everyone is secretly as afraid as he is, so he blusters and bullies his way through life in an attempt to make his enemies give up without a fight. A braggart who wants everyone to know just how powerful he is, he alienates his friends with his antics more than he scares his enemies.

Thundercracker

Function: Warrior

With a superiority complex and disdain for those who can't fly, Thundercracker let himself be talked into joining the Decepticons in the early days of the war. He's stayed since then mostly out of fear, both of what his comrades would do if he left and more importantly, fear of admitting he was wrong. He welcomes the alliance with the Autobots and the chance it brings to actually do something productive for once.

Triggerhappy

Function: Gunner

Triggerhappy is a violent, unhinged goon. He loves to shoot stuff and doesn't really pay much attention to what that "stuff" is, which often means he winds up strafing his own comrades. They tolerate him because he's a genuinely nice guy who likes to joke around, but wish he'd get his head straightened out. His Nebulan partner Blowpipe usually takes responsibility for firing their weapons, to avoid any future "incidents".

Trypticon

Function: Assault Base

Probably the only Decepticon who could honestly claim to be deadlier than Sixshot. Trypticon is a gigantic, basically invincible engine of destruction. He doesn't especially enjoy his role, since it offers no real challenge, but understands how good he is at it and is willing to muddle through for the team. The other Decepticons aren't quite sure what to make of him, as his gigantic form makes him seem unapproachable.

Weirdwolf

Function: Tracker

Though he has a few crossed wires and a speech impediment that makes him talk in garbled sentence fragments, Weirdwolf is smart and cunning. He is a talented tracker and a skilled fighter, and his hyper-keen senses make it almost impossible to hide from him. But his singsong speech and inability to shut up when he's hunting make him a bit of a liability. His Nebulan Headmaster, Monzo, adds his not-inconsiderable wrestling skills to the mix.

Wildfly

Function: Aerial Assault

Though he can be vicious when provoked, Wildfly usually doesn't have any motivation beyond doing whatever seems funny at the time. His fellow Pretender Monsters can't stand him or his purile, childish sense of humour. The other Decepticons, though, don't see him every day and occasionally get a chuckle out of his antics.

Wingspan

Function: Data Processor

A nosy, inquisitive Decepticon, Wingspan can usually be found behind a desk. But don't let his sedentary lifestyle and nerdy tics fool you -- he's every bit as relentless as his brother Pounce. He's also every bit as important to the Decepticon cause. The two of them don't understand each other and Wingspan finds his clone's bloody assignments very distasteful, but they work well together and compliment each other's skills perfectly.
