Sir Auros' review of: Blight

Name: Blight
Allegiance: Decepticon
Function: Demolitions
Sub-Group: Combaticons

I really like the Energon Combaticons (or Destructicons or whatever), but man is Blight's paintjob offensive on the eyes. The figure is virtually identical to Kickback only with louder, tasteless shades of most of the same colors. It's not that the colors are really so awful so much as they're excecuted so poorly and the figure seems to lack detail as a result.

Vehicle Mode:
Still a sweet, futuristic tank thingy, only this time with a puke/lime green paintjob. This is a very respectable vehicle mode though and between the turrets actually rotating and inclining, you have a lot of play value. Put some wheels on the bottom and you have yourself and afternoon. Seriously though, Blight's vehicle mode is a ton of fun and it looks relatively good on display, except for the coloring. It would have been nice if Blight had been some other kind of vehicle to lend some variety to the gestalt, but I ultimately like the mold so much that I don't even care. The only thing that could make this vehicle mode better would be a toned-down paintjob and maybe a missile launcher.

Robot Mode:
This is where the paintjob actually hurts the figure the most. The head and other parts that are painted or molded in black just don't look very detailed. This is too bad too since I know from having Kickback that the mold is well-detailed. I'm still not a big fan of the head with weird panpipes coming out of the side. Maybe if there wasn't a gap between them and the sides of the figure's head, but there is and it looks silly. The built-in weapons are nice and redeem the bizarre feet, but it's too bad the inside of the barrels aren't painted like Kickback's. That's another area that loses detail due to the paintjob. The figure has a great range of movement and is a fun little robot.

Transformation: 7 - Pretty good considering it's also a gestalt, but the hands aren't hidden so well in robot mode. I also almost always have trouble remembering to reverse the gun barrels for transformation.
Durability: 8 - The guns on mine aren't loose yet, but I know from having Kickback that they're likely to get loose.
Fun: 10 - Heavily armed and heavily articulated.
Price: 10 - It's under $7.
Summary: 8 - As good as Kickback except for the paintjob. Could've been better if it were a little quieter.
