Had the Beast wars Dreamewave series happened would it have been in canon with a Beast Machines and G1 Dreamewave?

Would they have wanted Beast Machines to be the future of their G1?

It's certainly possible. They were more cartoon-oriented than IDW. Difficult to tell since even the G1 title was cut short after a few boom and bust years, before it really went anywhere.

Incessant nods to the animated movie, Alpha Trion / Vector Sigma, a predominantly pre-movie cast, and ignoring the majority of characterisation any of the characters received in other continuities.
