Hey, graphic novels still count, right? Probably the most lightweight of the Star Wars omnibuses (omnibi?), which mean it still weights a ton and doesn't fit in my bookshelf. Also not much in the way of extra material, just a couple of pages of articles, some promo art and an ad for the Droids comic

Star Wars: Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Shattered Empire - I bought the hardcover version as it also includes a C3-PO one-shot that explains his red arm.

I have over the last few weeks been buying the three books in Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy.

The books in the series are:

Heir to the Empire,
Dark Force Rising,
The Last Command.

I've been trying to get hold of them for ages. Given up on paper copies, will have to go digital for them. I last read bits of them about 22 years ago. Wish I'd have bought them then, except I'd never heard anything of the expanded universe at that point and they felt like an odd follow on from the films!

From a Certain Point of View - An anthology of short stories written by 40 different authors some who have written for Star Wars stories before and some who haven't.

Right now, everything I've been reading for the last 2 months were articles like this one about Russian real estate investments abroad, because I don't really have a choice, I have to talk and write about it at work so I can only learn what to talk about at home.
But I've got Roald Dahl's Squadron 80 waiting for me on my bed table. I've been stuck at the part where he's drafted as an officer in 1939 since late November... I should read more sci fi, but the only novels I can find at the local book shop look tacky as hell.

Star Wars: Thrawn : Alliances - I believe this is the second of a trilogy in the new canon, written by Timothy Zahn.

Is it any good? I read the first of his "new canon" Thrawn books a year or two ago and it was okay, but in no way did it grab my attention the way his 90s Thrawn books did. I honestly don't remember much of anything that happened. And considering Thrawn is my favourite part of Star Wars, that's a pretty lukewarm review.

I'd say it's a solid book. Not as good as the old Thrawn Trilogy, but I'd assume that's because of having to fit Disney's new continuity. Still, it was kind of fun reading the parallel stories of Thrawn teaming with Anakin and Vader.
Curious to see what the upcoming Treason book is like.
