:) Well I think the consensus is that size-changing is a necessary process for some mechs, even if we don't understand how it works. But only certain mechs in particular will be able to do it dramatically (like Soundwave/Blaster)

Why do so many people have issues with mass shifting when mass shifting has always been a part of fiction Dracula did it he shrunk down and changed his form to the size of a bat Antman does it, the atom does it used in space 1999 superfriends and various other fictions where shrink rays are created to shrink people and objects to various sizes including microscopic sizes Transformers are not the first fiction to come up with mass shifting, but no one questions the other scifi who uses mass shifting only transformers why is that. Makes you wonder

The way I see it is Cybertronians base size is there robot mode and on cybertron probably transformed into something comparable to rhe robot mode with the exception of transformers who transformed into transports and various weopons thwn they would obviosly need to mass shift for there alternate mode to make since but in order to blend in with other alien civilizations it was necessary for some of them to mass shift ro the alternate mode in question and for the combiners each component would adjust to a third size to create a stable gestalt. Even in the cartoon you could often see the combiners growing in size ro maintain their gestalt mode.
