The graphics and animation look cool, but has anyone actually played this? And is the narration/dialog actually in English with Japanese subtitles as Youtube videos seem to suggest?
I'd just like some info on this Japanese-only game that seems to follow the 1986 movie.

Above you'll find two reviews from a couple game sites that I frequent. Seems like it's not too bad, but it gives some good perspectives on the game. Hope this helps.

Wrong game, that is the one we got. The one they are talking about was a japan only game. Funny thing is, I thought it was ment to get imported over here, guess the sales were not that good.ganon578 wrote:IGN Review:

Hmm. Didn't know that. Not that I owned it or a PS2 for that matter, I had just looked it up on game sites. Oh well.wolfbolt86 wrote:Wrong game, that is the one we got. It was.. a pretty awful game. I got to play it briefly, and it was just... not good, even if you ignore the god-awful voice-overs of most of the characters. The biggest problem is that every single moment of the game plays exactly the same, no matter who you're using, or what you're supposedly doing.
Imagine the fairly decent "Transformers: Battle for Energon" game that we did get, only without all the aspects and polish that make it fun and unique.
Pity, 'cause the cut-scenes did promise an interesting game. I would have loved to have seen a game based around the most famous G1 fight scenes... but alas.

I'm not sure about the plot, but judging from the sparse description this game seems like the most likely candidate:
