The Prime protoform is pretty neat, I think. Seems to have good proportions and detail along with an interesting idea behind it.
I can see why Hasbro have only produced two of this type of figure (Prime and Starscream), but they're enough to establish the idea that TF's look different in different environments.

I just got my Protoform Starscream tonight at Target, and I have to admit I am very fond of it. Its something different and unusual, and the figure is very posable, I'm fairly impressed by all the articulation on the figure. I don't think I'll be picking up Prime unless I get him for my son, just because as Clay pointed out...I think one of these is enough.
The only gripe I have is with the artificial flame that goes on the end of the missle, looks cheap to me. But thats an easy remedy..just take it off

YES......
I bought them and like them, but I can totally understand anyone who is annoyed by them. I didn't like them until I got the prequel comics, then they seemed cool to me.
The articulation on Prime is incredible and Starscream looks just a evil as I imagined in "The Ghosts Of Yesterday" novel.
Come on and wind me up.
Actually, when I looked at the robot modes, I actually thought they could be cool as another line - maybe something to compete directly against Gundam. They're just not Transformers to me, but could do well as their own mecha series.
But, the alt modes.. 'burning poop mode' (it's funnier when two six-year-old boys are saying it) was SO apt.

I concur with you on this one, after seeng the entry modes in the comic it did make more sense and hyped the protoform figures up for me. I had actually been really looking forward to these coming out, and I'm not disappointed at all now that I got mine.
IMO, the rather frank assessment made by the 6 year-olds is priceless - unlike the ruddy protoforms, which seem to be going for at least £10 a pop plus p&p in GB at the mo and have not yet appeared in any toy-selling shops I have visited. I do think the robot modes are not too bad looking and I usually display my acquisitions as robots (take up less space and annoy the hubby more, yee-hah!), but I'll wait to see whether they'll be cheaper in the near future i.e. the stores panic when they don't sell as only the fanboys/girls know what they're looking at.

Do you know how many Gobots I can get for the price of a new Transformer? About fifty. I mean, sure, there's about four I don't have and I've been reduced to buying variants (oooh, Tux with a silver grille!), but I won't be buying any new TFs for a while.
More seriously, while I don't mind the character models too much, they don't look as good as toys

Personally, I find the poll options quite a bit funnier than the kid's comment. Someone's a bit biased, eh?
You accusin' Soundwave110088 of being biased?
(I'll probably pick up Screamer once I can a) actually find one in an actual shop and thus b) see if he's actually worth the dosh.)

He's worried that the TFs are watching his every move in the bedroom... Oddly, he hasn't complained about the two teddy-bears...Originally posted by another tf fan
