Technobots' reissue halted by copyright problems!!!

Post by Cliffjumper »

"...Takara announced today that the reissue of the Computicon boxset in April 2002 has been put on hold... the set was released in the US in 1987 as Computron... and the delay comes from a copyright problem with one of the five components. It appears that after the collapse of the Transformers franchise in the early 1990s the rights to the mould of Scattershot were sold to Ann Summers plc. Takara are attempting to buy back the copyright, though if the price is too high the reissue may be cancelled entirely."

It's a good thing that I've purchased Computron awhile back. What was Hasbro thinking, selling the mold of Scattershot to a woman, anyway? Were they *that* desperate for money? Sheesh.

So what IS Ann Summers plc? I've never heard of it/whatever. And who the heck would want the rights to just one member of a combiner?! . . . I suppose someone who planned to cash in under just these circumstances. :(

Ah . . . I see now . . . sort of. Thanks for making me feel stupid. But where did this come from? Is it some obscure reference to an inside joke? How would anyone know at first glance that this is a joke? (I know what you're thinking--just stop now, you're only looking dumber, but I am curious and would like to avoid subsequent 'out there' references.)

Ann Summers is I think a lingerie chain in the UK... Nuff said, or should be.

OK, a lingerie chain buying the mold to a transformer? Maybe that was the owner's favorite character or something. I'd buy the rights to Hot Rod if I could.

...actually SEEN the Scattershot toy, find a photo. If after that you still don't get why a store explicitly forbidding sales to anyone under the age of 18 might be interested, PLEASE NEVER CONTAMINATE THE GENE POOL.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. LOL. They must sell it to people that are extra lonely.

hehehe, this old thing... don't click the link, you get a 404 as I'm moving house, then moving back to the old one...

Some reiteration, in a frank fashion, for the estupidos [whoops, probably a little complicated - stupid people] out there.

THIS IS A JOKE.

A DEVELOPMENT OF A RUNNING JOKE, INFACT.

Y'SEE, SCATTERSHOT'S THIRD MODE LOOKS LIKE A SEX TOY.

ANN SUMMERS IS A BRITISH CHAINSTORE WHICH OFTEN SELLS THIS SORT OF THING.

Get it? No? Never mind.
