EDIT: Changed the first post to accomodate for recent revelations.

Both toys were found on an auction site. Both are redecos of the Energon Blackout/Stormcloud (helicopter) mold (AGAIN).

The seller originally called them "Whirl" and "Sandstorm", but those are not the final names. The final names are "Vortex" and "Swindle", reaspectively (see my below post for more).

Vortex:

Swindle:

EDIT: This thread originally also included a redeco of Armada Super-Con Optimus Prime. More about that toy can now be found in this thread.

And then we have Optimus Prime, another redeco of the Armada Super-Con (= Deluxe) Optimus Prime mold... or, more specifically, of the Cybertron version that replaced the Mini-Con with a Cyber Key.

I doubt Whirl will keep that name, since Universe already established him as a bot. Seems odd to release two 'combaticon' figures by themselves now, particularly when you have Onslaught as something completely different.

On the other hand, Archer DID say that some combiners would be returning... just begs the question how this 'Bruticus' fits in.

And, Super-Con Prime as Universe 2.0's 'Optimus' is pretty much a no-brainer. I half expect Hero Megatron to return as Universe 2.0's 'Megatron' as well.

Anyone else think Whirl looks exactly like Ro-Tor from RID? Maybe we're getting Universe/Classics Ruination.

Wouldn't be a bad idea, certainly. 'Movor' as the other copter would be a little odd, but not that much I guess (looks a bit like his 'desert' coloration exclusive). That leaves Rollbar and Armorhide as the tanks, which is fine enough (Rollbar was never an accurate name anyway. :) ) . Mega-Octane as Barricade is spot-on.

That WOULD mesh with the rumors of a new Railracer coming.

May by one of them just to get the mold.
I always liked the way Armada Prime's vehical mode looked but hate the robot mode.

I'm the total opposite, I love the robot mode but don't care much for the truck. That's a repaint I may just pick up.

Energon Superion Maximus redeco for Universe?

Now thaaaaat's interesting. Given that we've already got a Classics Universe Silverbolt. Who will they be? And, given that they're rubbish, will I care?

Good point.

They'd probably just use the name Storm Jet for the main part again, if it matters to anyone. I might be interested in this if all five are released together as a gift set like the Classics Constructicons were. I might like them as I find myself liking the usual "underdogs" of some lines. (Movie Payload, Universe Tankor Octane)

Interesting question...

Will this be the return of all the Aerialbots (since the names are back now)?

Or.. will this be the UT Air Team?

Or wil they do the Universe 1.0 route and just throw some random names around and call it 'good'?

It might be the return of all the Aerialbots, but the core will likely be called something other than Silverbolt as there's already the Universe Ultra Silverbolt.

Yet another "nothing to get excited about" moment in TFandom. Is it just me or has there not really been any exciting toy news since Animated first came out?

Well, we're in the 'down time' I think. The Deluxe Universe figs are where that line's actual 'action' is, for the most part. I expected exclusives and larger figs to be an endless stream of repaints.

Hopefully the repaints will continue to be 'regular line' quality that we're seeing and NOT Universe 1.0 style repaints... gak.

That said, I think it's fully possible that they'll reuse 'Silverbolt' as the leader, particularly if the figure is an exclusive to somewhere. I mean, how many 'Prowl' figures did we have the last time around?

It does look hideous.

Fireflight saw a Classics Legends release (LOC Jetfire repaint), and Skydive (LOC Soundwave repaint!) and Air Raid (LOC Jetfire repaint... again) are both in the Aerial Rivals Target Exclusive Legends set, with Silverbolt (LOC Thundercracker repaint... back in red and white once again!) in the Leaders Target Exclusive Legends set. The Aerialbots are seeing one heck of a revival!

It's better then seeing constant Constructicon homages.

So, the images were taken down at request of the source.

I assume because the photos have the words "HASBRO CONFIDENTIAL" slapped all over them.
