Forgive an idiot for asking what might well be obvious to everyone else, but exactly what's the difference between the Premium Series and the original releases?

They're Premium.

Also, different/more (in many cases more "movie-accurate") paint applications.

Actually, Premium Blackout seems to look amazingly similar to the Japanese Lawson exclusive Blackout "version 4500X" redeco.

I sure like the Premium Blackout's Alt mode re-deco, but the robot mode has way too much white on it.

Scorpy doesn't look too bad, as a legends figure.

That is a nice looking scorpy. That could easily pass as scale to other TF's a figure in the line of deluxes, voyagers, etc. if i bought blackout, that scorpy would be used instead of the bigger version for sure.

Yuppers. Deluxe Scorpy is rubbish. About the only reason why I picked him up was that he interacted with blackout. With Legends Scorpy, what would pass as a rather poor attempt at a robot mode, in larger toys, is actually what you'd expect from something in his size class.

Ironhide might be worth it were it not for those big cannons on his forearms and the obvious missles... I am still sketchy about him, but Blackout looks good though, more movie authentic. Even if the pictures are perfected by photoshop on the back of the packaging.

I'm not too sure about Ironhide.

Is that an Autobot insignia on his bonnet? I don't remember that from the film...

And his eyes are a little intense... or frightening...

I am tempted just to 'upgrade' my standard release with ReproLabels stickers.
