EDIT: Yeah, might as well move the whole thread really, we already have a general TF4 news thread which, IIRC, has the news Bay was back in it. Unless anyone has any objections? The bay news was already somewhere? Sorry, missed that. If the film had flopped (and there's no shortage of big heavily p...

DS9 is on my "get hold of the lot and watch properly" list - I watched it pretty solidly up until about series 4 on BBC2's legendary 6pm "not the news" slot but lost track when I moved out. BSG I'm very curious about. Spaced I loved at the time but I feel hasn't dated too well.....

Best shows I've ever seen? Firefly Prime is shaping up very nicely but there's still plenty of time for it all to go very badly wrong. Probably others I've shamefully forgotten. I watch too much TV. Seems like. :) Of the ones mentioned I love Firefly and Prime. I think Prime's been great so far and...

Willow's largely written as a male character. She's a fairly standard male geek just played by an attractive female. She's adorable but until she gets with Ozz there's very little that couldn't have been said by a man. The same trick's done with the one with a perfectly spherical head in Firefly. F...

Whedon writes every female character like Buffy, when he's not writing them like Faith or Cordelia. Like J.J. Abrams he's something of a one-trick pony who lucked into doing the exact thing he was good at for a few years and built up an overrated reputation as a result. There's also Willow, Tara, F...

It's especially odd as his own film basically takes place in an alternate reality where Hydra and the Red Skull were the big bads of World War II rather than the Nazi's (even if there's the implication the rest of the war is happening around it). I'd never really thought about that. The world in Av...

You seem to accept his name as an inherent seal of quality and get a little tetchy when he's criticised. Not at all. If you look earlier in the thread I expressed my opinion on Dollhouse. I'm not keen on it. And you are the person calling me a fanboy and a cultist when I've leveled no such terms in...

Yeh, that's me laughing my arse off at how low your standards are and how easily you're conditioned. So I have low standards because I liked the Avengers movie? And I'm easily conditioned because I've watched Buffy and can recognise Whedon scripted dialogue? Huh. Joss [/color] film because of...

Joss? Joss Stone? Joss Ackland? Jos Verstappen? FFS, he's a film/TV director, not your ****ing mate or a religious leader. Nice to see you treated it like any other film rather than an easily led cultist anyway. So, this isn't you getting riled up, telling me I'm a cultist (or a fanboy) and that I ...

Takes more than a  Joss  fanboy to get me riled. It's just amusing that you'd invalidate your argument is such a simplistic fashion. Don't really see the need for his full name in an Avengers discussion. And anyone who has seen Buffy, or any of his works, knows what his dialogue sounds ...

TF was the biggest seller of 2007 - 13.74m units. ROTF was the best-selling DVD of 2009 - 7.5m on DVD, 1.2m in the first week of Blu-Ray. DotM seems not to have done so well with about 4m combined on both formats (though IIRC overall DVD sales have been falling the past 2-3 years; consumers have la...

You honestly think the merging of four successful action franchises had less to do with the film's success than it being directed by the guy who made ratings dud Firefly? How many of those tickets were sold to people who knew who Whedon was? Firefly may have tanked in the ratings, partly due to the...

Avengers was too obviously written by the execs - something I don't think affected Transformers badly, especially considering the more overt product placement. Transformers is juggling car and toy manufacturers. Avengers is only selling us the stars of the films - they don't have to make a Camaro l...

Hang on there - to quote from his wiki page "Whedon wrote Astonishing X-Men in Marvel Comics' popular line of comics about the X-Men but finished his 24 issue run in 2008 and handed over the writing reins to Warren Ellis. The title, recreated specifically for Whedon, has been one of Marvel's b...

Interesting quote from Erick Weber Rotten Tomatoes: "Without Robert Downey Jr. delivering his witty quips in patented rat-a-tat-tat fashion, The Avengers would largely be a soulless shell of a movie that could be mistaken for a Michael Bay production." My main argument with the Transformer...

Transformers 4 News and Rumours

An interview with Michael Bay by the Huffington Post has confirmed that the director will be back for TF4 and that the reboot, well, isn't. Also, Peter Cullen will be back. I thought I was done. Then the ride came out [at Universal Studios Hollywood] and the two-and-a-half-hour lines. And then you'r...

Advice on Star Wars Comics

Hey everyone, I've recently decided to give some of the numerous Star Wars comic lines a go having ended several other long runs and I thought I'd seek some advice regarding which series are any good and worth reading. So, I'm reading Legacy by John Ostrander and am loving it. It's an excellent seri...

Regeneration One: Sigh . Shouldn't judge the book by it's cover, but really? So, Scorponok is controlling the Dinobots and (as revealed in #82) a small army of Headmasters. Haven't we been here before? Is that really the plot? I'm surprised that got through editorial considering we're been there an...

Why did Drift need an oversized hardcover to collect the four issue mini plus a whole extra single issue? Don't get that.
