Re: World events are doing wonders for my mental health

Thought that the first series was alright apart from needlessly complicating the Klingons, and comparable to if not more interesting than the Star Trek: Vanguard books, but gave up before the mirror universe arc in series two. I really hate alt-universe and time travel stuff unless it's playful idea...

Re: He-Man.org closing in a week

Loose consensus seems to be for invading https://forum.hemanworld.com/ (vB6) and https://foreternia.com/community (bbPress) -- the owner of HMW has been reaching out and inviting people, and that site's been around a decade or so. At a guess, any influx of people at this stage won't cause them bandw...

Re: He-Man.org closing in a week

Mmm. The site thread's into mud-slinging by now, but apparently some form of archiving is still planned. Believe it if it happens. If it's a static archive that should get it crawlable by Google (the current broken state of searching seems to be to do with a third-party "Sphinx" search plu...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Not exactly new, more newly out of box. I was thinking about using Transformers Generations Legacy Selects Lift-Ticket (breathe...) as a stocking filler after getting it from Hasbro's clearance eBay sale earlier in the year, but then I looked at some reviews, and I think I'm going to need to find si...

Re: He-Man.org closing in a week

Yeah, the forum is still active. So the fact nothing's being worked out with other people to take over is a bit... well, what I'd expect to be honest. Val/JVS3 originally took on the site from someone else who's popped up in the comments (can't load the thread from where I am currently) and apparent...

He-Man.org closing in a week

Well, I assume it's the site as well since the collecting resources have been offline for a while and redirect back to the forum (also a shame, the photos and minicomic scans were useful). I think they're running vBulletin 4.2.5 so would suspect the PHP versioning on top of everything else might hav...

Re: Hey

There's not much to really be a newcomer for... movies have been diminishing returns for years, and IDW killed their comics continuities first by accepting Hasbro's shared universe wants with the Furman/Roberts continuity and then a generally lacklustre follow up continuity. The toys have become a s...

Re: Hey

Cool. Glad people are bearing up.

Can't say I look back much on the past, except in the rather literal sense of being surrounded by 80s and 80s inspired stuff, but we're aiming to keep things running and if Brendan gets sick of it hosting's gotten a lot less expensive over the years.

Creeping towards thirty for those who remember the 1996 site. Can't find an older snapshot than a few years after that, though: https://web.archive.org/web/19990508233642/http://www.tfarchive.com/ On at least the fourth forum, no-one's got any time, etc, but still likewise checking in. Anything inte...

Still here. Not sure how many faces around you'll recognise, but quite a few people are on social media if you go by real names.

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Dinoking is fairly logical, slap some vaguely appropriate colours on the shapeless Rock Lords -esque mass and call it a day. Might even be tempted at a clearance price. Monstructor I think you'd need something like the POTP Terrorcons to use as a base unless we're talking retool in the sense of a si...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Possibly different strokes... IMNSHO, ball joints can be okay at that scale, but making them part of the transformation (plus all of the limbs having lizard scales on etc so they're really obvious in the alt mode) makes Iggy feel cheaper and more KO-ish. I particularly dislike ball joints on things ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Sneaky f*ckers. The empty thighs and that split tail at head height look awful, too. Plus are the hips moulded red? If so there's no excuse for not doing the sword in red too.

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

At the Commander class price point, the honeycomb hollowness of Magmatron is shockingly bad, isn't it? The dino necks are enough to put anyone off, even though it looks like some of the parts could be rotated around for display. Shouldn't need 3P filler parts to not look shit at around a hundred buc...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I thought about sandpapering the missile tip shafts. I'm just worried about screwing up and going too far, or making them off center, and then I can't use them in either. Though, I could snip the ends off the overly long missile shafts, try sanding the rest, and glue the tips onto the snipped off e...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Metallic paint is always trickier (for small areas those liquid chrome pens can be a nice workaround, for spear heads etc). Cheers for the info. Kapow are clearing out some stuff, so I got a Legacy Skullgrin to do something I'd been thinking of. Got the swords off a couple of G2 Cybertronian Trooper...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Neat. When cured, is the paint resistant to friction? If so, what brand? I could do with touching up Emirate Xaaron a bit. Although he is meant to look a bit decrepit. Don't really tend to touch the figures I've painted much (unflocked Moss Man out of Beast Man is more of a placeholder statue, for i...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Mmm. I think painting the head is a good call. And probably going to display with the Legends class ones in insect modes, rather than ever bother to transform them. Despite liking the original toys (and the AM) could never really get past Bombshell being overpowered, similar to other unbalanced 80s ...
