Normal people don't buy hundreds of dollars worth of toys for themselves as adults either, but the movies have still led to giant growth on that side of the fandom. Partly by making a generation of Chinese 20-somethings fall in love with the franchise, but also by bringing a lot of people who grew ...

Marvel tried to chase the movie buck in the very late nineties but it didn't go down well as normal people don't read comics and it was exactly what the existing readership didn't want. These days Marvel are in the same boat as Hasbro though in that they're probably making more through licencing fil...

Aye Marvel have experimented with "digital first" issues where the print version turns up a few weeks later, but I don't think any of them have lasted more than half a dozen issues. Beyond that they've recently gone back to giving away free digital copies with the $3.99 books (usually now...

IDW just seem incapable of leaving anything be... I'm years behind (what with most of it being shit) but I've got stuff sitting on my tablet ready to read but after Dark Cybertron yanked both books out and shook them around I really can't be arsed to read them; there's a lot to be said in the market...

Looks solid to me - and thanks, I had no idea that Christmas story even existed!

Going to punt this into the TF media forum but it's not a problem :)

Recently 3P prices aren't actually that different from regular MP rates, tbh. Sunsurge is currently on BBTS at $80, while Tracks, Hot Rod and BLUEstreak are around $75-80 (no indication as to whether those have been discounted though). Sunstreaker has just gone up for preorder at $120. Are you sugg...

There were a couple of bits in Best of Simon Furman (IIRC the alliance discussion from the back-ups) but aside from that I think we're talking Titan (thankfully when they were still printing ridiculous quantities so it's still easy to find). Apparently the prick thinks it was "too nineties"...

Got me thinking, have we ever had a truly great King Arthur movie? Excalibur - Merlin going past 11 and up to about 74, mud, blood, battered armour, O Fortuna. Watched Prevenge by the quietly incredible Alice Lowe. A fraction too Ben Wheatley tribute act but really there are worse mentors to follow.

Are people really so insanely impatient that they'll spend three figures on a toy they don't actually like just so it can fill a spot on a shelf for a couple years, because they just can't wait for the official version to come out? Is that actually what's happening, or am I missing something here? ...

Ooooh, might put down on a cheap Sunsurge; I'll be waiting until the Chinese bootleg Sunstreaker anyway. Why shouldn't I benefit from Transformers fans being largely fickle, stupid, impatient, myopic, gullible... Another Lost Lighter on the shelf! Seriously though it's incredible that people aren't ...

Clip-on 3rd Party GIGANTIC ENGINES coming to an overcharging webshop near you.

Tasty, though the comments on the link to Big Board remind me why I hate so much of fandom.

Yup, G2's basically the one Transformers story that holds up really, really well - dense, violent, largely free of commercial pressures, focused on a handful of leads with colour support, big stakes, an actual new villain who got things done, actual character development... It's a genuine horizon-wi...

Strongest wave yet IMO; some really nice parts and paint apps in there - even the surfer's got his amazing board. In love with any hat with attached hair. Do like the way that after 20-30 years of using the same basic pieces Lego have just gone nuts lately and are moulding whatever they need; the bl...

Tricky to say, though given the similarities in narrative and closing dialogue, I'd be surprised if its inclusion was solely because one of the supporting cast liked it. Would presume a happy coincidence until confirmed otherwise. Yup - more than likely that James Mangold, actual film director, can...

The Walk. Pretty good overall; I can watch Joseph Gordon Levitt in most things and he's got the charisma. Fun format and they still managed to make the tightrope walk look awesome.

Spent plenty on Lego, which is providing better value for money despite being famously expensive; £20 actually gets you a relatively decent size kit. It really seems to be largely limited to TFs; even allowing for complexity the prices compared to something like Paw Patrol are astounding. I know it'...

And they looked amazing, really nice in the plastic. But twenty ****ing quid for a Deluxe? i.e. a 150% increase on the RiD deluxes 15 years ago and double if not slightly more on a Movie figure 9 years ago? They can **** the **** off, the ****ing ****s. Seriously, that's a few days food or half of a...
