I think that Starscream's override code was transmitted through electronic pulses rather than voice, since pulses are less likely to be distorted by such things as extraneous noise, explosions, mishearing and funny accents. [I have experienced this first hand when dealing with computers over the tel...

Aequitas

I'm sure that Aequitas does its best to determine guilt but I think that many crimes would still go unpunished and even undetected. The evidence needed for verdicts could be lost in the chaos of war. Transformers are presumably 'forensically aware' and could destroy evidence. Memories could be disto...

Devastation: Starscream shut down Six Shot with a code. The code came from his memory, got transmitted, was received and then paralysed Six Shot. I think that counts as brain-to-brain communication. As far as I could tell, Six Shot was unconscious when he hit the ground, so I guess that the code did...

I can't claim networking as my own idea. It came from many other people, like William Gibson (Neuromancer, 1984).

In an ideal world, IDW and others would make up something to address this issue, at least briefly. It can potentially influence entire continuities.

In a way, the Transformer war is like the Rwandan genocide of 1994: people living side by side but disagreements build up, jealousies develop and massacres break out. Civil wars can be very vicious, since the opposing sides know each other so well. I heard that the fundamental problem in Rwanda was ...

I only found 1 trade in Harrow. The question is: are Transformers in an actual war or a long series of plays about war? With actual wars, one wins by any means necessary even if those means are very boring indeed. Human examples could be code breaking by hand, in World War II, or doing nothing but p...

Yes, it is common for discussions to go off-topic and, by rights, they should be recategorised somehow. Sure, the Aequitas thing can be looked at in many ways. That's the fun of discussion. I always thought that it was strange if Transformers never used their many connections and transceivers to inv...

In a mental network, people have to moderate their thoughts to prevent irritation and worse (good parallel to TFA!;)). If they can't do it alone, they can have help. There could be an Autobot out there who has a special ability to counteract poor Huffer's negativity. Perhaps Transformers' inner mono...

'Loose cannons' can still fight alongside. Nothing's stopping that. In many cases, they are very valuable and should not be discarded. Backstreet could sometimes be more important than Springer, if he had crucial information and ways to get more of it. The situation is key. Alternative views can be ...

Another 2 cents

The road to mental networking is very long and difficult. The group has to develop the right attitudes to cope. Perhaps the Autobots haven't managed this yet, though they are moving in the right direction. The hardware and software are ready but maybe the emotions aren't. Full mental networking is a...

I guess the world isn't ready for 'Borgised Transformers', though that is the logical way to go eventually, just as slow horse carriages gave way to motorised transport. The military advantage given would be irresistible. (Why are they fighting? Do they want to win or not?!) Leadership would be shar...

My two cents on mental networking

This whole lack-of-mental-networking among Autobots does give us plenty of drama but it is one major reason why many continuities can't be taken too seriously. (One might say that comics, at least, should be comic, not serious.) Autobots should be networked as much as possible because it would give ...

It's that whole 'advanced weapons' theme. The real system detects and destroys incoming projectiles in a few seconds, I believe. The fictional one would seem to be dead now, but he was once very resourceful.

I got the trade paperback [of Last Stand of the Wreckers] recently. All in all, it was very nicely done: adverbially excellent. There was a supplementary story at the end that JR had worked hard to write. There are so many in-jokes. One might say that this series was a long, convoluted way to send V...

I am foolish enough to 'read the bugger'. I also just read the last issue of 'Nefarious'. How come the old geezer made an Allspark that had some powers while Starscream failed to do the same in 'Reign of Starscream' a few years ago? I would have thought that Transformers had more familiarity with Al...

I think that we're in 'Team America' territory. Kim Jong-Il may soon start singing 'I'm so ronery!'. However, there have been rumours of him suffering diabetes, strokes and cancer, so the song might not be sung.

Yeah, Metroplex could have used anti-matter on the swarm but the damage to Cybertron would have been pretty serious. Anti-matter explosions are proportionally much worse than nuclear explosions. The script says that Alpha Trion just spent a long time trying to fix the planet (who knows if he actuall...

Raoul Moat was a bit like 'Big Vern' from Viz comic, who says things like 'No copper is gonna take me alive' and often kills himself with a head shot.
