RID Scourge's review of: Wingstun

Name: Wingstun
Allegiance: Destron
Function: Aerial Warrior
Sub-Group: NA

Part of the senior group among the forces, assigned to energy management. Specializes in attacking from the enemy's blind spot, making use of his dominant arm (the right). The most capable of his team in using their combined weapon, the Arsenal Force.

Thanks to Doug Dlin of BWTF for translating the RM tech specs.

This review is of my favorite Machine Wars mold. However, I've really only known it as RID Skyfire before this guy (I got JBW Dirge after that).

Vehicle Mode:
Well, it's a jet. There's not much else to say. I like the jets because I can pretend they fly. The color scheme this time around is jungle camouflage. What would possess a destron to choose a camouflage color scheme when his alt mode is a jet is beyond me. It's totally useless, and it really screams, "Look at me! I'm not a normal jet!" Really, I'd like to imagine that any destron stupid enough to get his cover blown in such a blatant way would be melted in the slag pits . . .

Ignoring the color scheme for a moment, he's not that bad. He's got a funky shape, and some mean-looking missiles on his wings. One can imagine him blowing the autobots to scrap with them. Ummm . . . not really much else to him except that he has landing gear so that you can display him in jet mode.

Robot Mode:
Transformation to robot mode is as simple as pulling the nosecone down. The Machine Wars Jets in days of yore had good articulation. Wingstun's got ball and socket joints in his shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. He also has onein his neck, but there's a pin where the nosecone attaches to the rest of the plane's body, so he is forced to look to the right. His gun splits into two halves and can be hidden in the back of his calves. The energon weapon they gave to Wingstun is a trident, which I find extra cool just because it used to be my trademark weapon here at the archive. After I got this one, I got Dirge from the Japanese Beast Wars. I noticed that his nosecone doesn't go down all the way. I'm glad they had that problem fixed by the time this one was released.

Transformation: 10 - If you can't transform this, then please follow these instructions.
1. Take something hard and heavy-pointy parts are a plus.
2. Hit yourself in the head repeatedly until you figure it out. If you're bleeding, don't worry. That's just part of my plan to restore natural selection.
Durability: 9 - I've played the hell out of my RID Skyfire, and it's still intact, but I can imagine the weapons being lost.
Fun: 10 - Three words: "Whips out trident!" ;)
Price: 3 - Too many other options that don't cost as much. This isn't my favorite color scheme of the mold (I like green, but camo just doesn't make sense for a jet), and the only edge that he has is his trident.
Summary: 8 - A really nice toy, but you can get the mold for cheaper. As nice as the trident is, it's not worth the extra money.
