Galvatron91's review of: Sunstreaker

Faction: Autobot
Function: Warrior
Generation: One
Sub-Group: N/a
"They can't beat the best"

"The complete egotist. Sunstreaker thinks he is the most beautiful thing on Earth. Loves his sleek styling, contemptuous of other Autobots race cars (particularly his twin Sideswipe). Fires laser-guided ground-to-air rockets and high energy electron pulses at 300 bursts/sec. Tough polymer-steel skin resists artillery. Not a team player. Can be baited into dangerous situations, but is a very calm, competent and ruthless war machine."

Alternate Mode: What could possibly be sweeter than having an alternate mode of a racecar? (Take some time to ponder that…enough? OK, I'll continue) Well, having an alternate mode that was not just some racecar, but a Lamborghini Countach! The majority of this car is yellow (what did you expect for a guy named Sunstreaker?) with some black highlights on the front bumper, the door panels, and rear sections of the car. He also has silver chrome pipes near the rear of the car, right next to the silver fin, which appropriately enough says Countach! Sunstreaker also had a patch of red located along the rear tires. He has clear plastic windows in the front for the windshield and along the doors, and it also looks as though he has a sunroof. He has Autobot stickers to mark his true allegiance on both the front hood of the car and also on the center of the roof. The roof of the car can be flipped up…though you would be disappointed if you did so expecting to find a tiny steering wheel, though he does have a single seat…I imagine he would be a popular choice for date night…I'm just going to move on now!

Robot Mode: Need some help getting him into robot mode? Really? You do? Ah man…all right, I guess I am paid to…wait a minute, I'm not paid…you are on your own with this! Oh fine…I'll share my secrets on transforming this guy. You start with what will become the legs. Holding the rear of the car, gently pull the front end out and pull the front fenders apart. Next, turn him over and flip that black cover on the rear down, then you can pull the black things (those would be the arms) out. Rotate the arms down, turning them to face you. Also turn his feet up. Now, you get to pull the roof up…I said up, not off! OK then, push the seat through the opening in the rear of the car. Push the roof back down, viola, he has a chest! Lift the chrome pipes up and before you know it he has a head. Finally, close the black cover on his back, shut, and insert fists or rockets into his arms. He will also have some yellow "rocket boosters" that fit into the holes on each of his shoulders.
One gippy thing about this guy was that he didn't have a gun and the rockets didn't exactly launch out of his arms. Also, if the holes were loose, his fists spun around quite freely. He is however, quite nice looking…I can see why he thought he was such a sexy bugger…sorry! Anyway, the Autobot symbols from his car were now firmly displayed on his chest and foot…why on his foot? At any rate, the robot is mostly yellow…I won't even say what I am thinking…with black on the arms, feet, back, and on the shins of the legs. The shins also have what looks to be robotics in the black area, and the inside part of the legs have stickers with more gyros and whatnot. The head is mostly black, except for the face, which is sliver with yellow eyes, and the yellow horns…what was up with Transformers and horns anyway? One of those mysteries of life, I guess. He also had red on the shoulders below the boosters. On the arms were small buttons, which to my disappointment, only released the fists and rockets, but did not launch them. Although, I must say for being Sideswipe's twin, he really does not look very much like him…must be fraternal twins. I wonder which one is older?

Transformation:7 - Not the toughest once you get the hang of it. The first time was a bit of a pain…and I'm sure my explanation did so much to help!
Durability: 7.5 - Fairly solid…if you are careful with him and don't try to move things that don't move…which is everything on this guy. Some problem areas with the roof of the car. If I had a dollar though for every transformer I have seen on ebay that says "missing roof" I would be able to have that Overlord I've been wanting!
Fun:6 - How it pains me to do this! As good as he looks, he really isn't a whole lot of fun to play with, unlike his brother…who actually is somewhat moveable and has weapons. That's just the problem here, a lack of weaponry and poses really hurt him as a toy, but I guess he is a nice collectible.
Price:8 - Not exactly the cheapest date you'll find, Sunstreaker demands anywhere from $100 to over $300! It all depends on the usual factors: condition, with or without box, mint/sealed, etc. I got mine off ebay, C9+ toy complete, with a C7 box and all the paperwork for $110!
Overall: 7.5 - He looks great and he is a valuable addition to any collection, but if you want a toy you might want to look elsewhere. Poseability is the main issue!
