Savannahtron's review of: Cyclonus

Name: Cyclonus
Generation: One
Faction: Decepticon
"Compassion is the Autobot's downfall!"
Function: Saboteur
First Cartoon Appearance: Transformers: The Movie

"Cyclonus is a huge and emotionless air warrior. He has vast resources of power and can draw strength in direct proportion to his need. Cyclonus is equipped with nuclear-powered turbine engines which enable him to reach speeds greater than Mach 2. In robot mode, he carries an oxidating laser that fuses an enemy robot's internal mechanisms. Cyclonus has no weaknesses and no interests other than conquest."

Alternate Mode

A hypersonic jet able to reach Mach 2, Cyclonus is capable of space travel. Transformation of Cyclonus into "jet mode" is not terribly difficult at all. His shoulders fold out to be the wings of the plane, his head turns into the nose cone, his arms turn into the nuclear powered turbine engines, leaving his legs to turn into landing gear. Very sleek seeker, with a purple and gray motif. Wings are set forward instead of backwards giving it a very futuristic look and feel. The wings can come off for easier transformation, but why would you want to do that ?

Robot Mode

While Cyclonus' jet mode is very impressive, his robot mode takes the cake for me. Very posable for a G1 figure, his arms have full rotation, and his shoulders rotate 360 degrees making his upper half very posable. His legs do bend a the knee, giving him some flexibility for poses. He is taller than all of the other seeker jets, and rightfully should be Galvatron's 2nd in command. He caries an oxidating laser that effectively "freezes" the internal mechanisms of anyone he chooses to use it on. Later on with the Targetmaster series in Season 4 The Rebirth, Cyclonus' oxidating laser is formed with Night Stick to make himself more powerful than ever!

Transformation: 5 Durable and sleek.
Durability:10 Very Solid toy.
Fun: 9 One of my favorite seekers!
Price: Depends on what condition you want to get him in, ranging from $10.00 loose with poor stickers, to $200 MISB. I picked mine up on eBay for around $45.00 including shipping fees.

Summary:
After a great and tremendous battle with the Autobots, Skywarp and Bombshell along with other Decepticons were jettisoned from Astrotrain to "get rid of dead weight" by Starscream's command. After Megatron "agreed" to become Unicron's minion, Skywarp was transformed into an incredible fighting Air Commander. Some people argue that because Bombshell was in the foreground when the reformatting began, that he became Cyclonus, but I always felt that it was Skywarp who became Cyclonus and Bombshell became part of his Armada. Skywarp was always loyal to Megatron, and it would only be natural for him to become Cyclonus and be 2nd in command to Galvatron.

As far as a figure for your Transformer collection, Cyclonus is definitely an awesome one to have! I did not have one as a kid, but as an adult collector, I would not go without him.

"Cyclonus has no weaknesses and no interests other than conquest." 'Nuff said.
