Sir Auros' review of: Terradive

Name: Terradive
Allegiance: Autobot
Function: Bombadier
Sub-Group: Aerialbots

I went to the "local" Toys R Us (in a city 45 minutes away) yesterday and found the last two aerialbots so that I could finally complete an Energon gestalt. Seerus Nalaius is reviewing the overall Superion Maximus mode, but I'll take care of Terradive and Windrazor. As is fairly common knowledge, Terradive is a repaint of Sky Shadow and other than the color scheme, is really identical to it.

Vehicle Mode:
I like Terradive's jet mode and it looks like an interesting combination of a WW2 bomber and a futuristic jet. The best part about this mode is that there's a main cannon under the nose, a mobile turret on the underside, and two huge energon cannons can be added on the top. Terradive is very heavily armed and that's something I look for in an action figure. The seam running across the fuselage (that bothered me when I reviewed Sky Shadow) doesn't seem as noticeable with Terradive's paint job. The blue and white look pretty darned spiffy if you ask me.

Robot Mode:
As a rule, I hate any robot mode where the Transformer has something other than hands where hands should be. Terradive is the exception. Yes, he does technically have hands, but they're almost hidden behind the jet intakes (which could easily be imagined as cannons or gatling guns) and not well-defined either. Terradive has a good range of articulation, but it can be difficult to pose the figure in this mode since the wings make it top heavy. A really neat feature I discovered is that the turret guns on Terradive's head can be positioned over its eyes allowing one to give Terradive and Sky Shadow more of a difference if they are both being displayed in robot mode. Of course, you could do the same for Sky Shadow. It's just a neat feature. Gun eyes.

Transformation: 9 - Wonderfully done. Hides the robot mode fairly well, turns into a figure with great articulation, and was also designed to be part of a gestalt as well.
Durability: 10 - Really solid, nothing's come loose, and not a whole lot to lose.
Fun: 10 - Awesome vehicle mode, awesome robot mode, and it becomes an arm or a leg on a bigger, badder robot. What's not fun?
Price: 10 - Great figure at the Basic pricepoint.
Summary: 9 - A really good Energon figure worth checking out even if you're not going for the whole gestalt.
