Sir Auros' review of: Stormcloud

Name: Stormcloud
Allegiance: Decepticon
Function: Air Support
Sub-Group: Combaticons

Finally found a Stormcloud and Kickback the other night (in the local Kmart of all places), but didn't see a trace of the last two aerialbots the two were supposedly packaged with. Unlike the constructicons, Kickback and Stormcloud are good figures in their own right and would be fun even if they weren't part of a gestalt. Stormcloud's paint job is more likely to offend than any of the gestalt limbs so far, but it kind of grows on you.

Vehicle Mode:
Stormcloud is a helicopter that looks like it's loosely based on real-world gunship style choppers. The main problem I have with Stormcloud's vehicle mode is that he's not really heavily armed. Let's have some missiles under those "wings," even if they're just molded plastic, eh? The other problem I have is that the legs are so miserably hidden it's not even funny. Other than that, Stormcloud's your run of the mill helicopter and the vehicle mode kind of falls in the realm of mediocrity. I wouldn't display it in this mode, but I can see how it could still be fun for some.

Robot Mode:
I really like Stormcloud's robot mode, but I think he looks like a pinhead. Somehow his body became wildly out of proportion with his (superbly sculpted) head, and that's ultimately my only complaint about this mode. Wonderful articulation, decent weaponry, and good sculpting gives Stormcloud a solid robot mode with little to complain about. Like I mentioned before, the head has a great sculpt and really looks like a helicopter pilot's head. I don't have much else to say about the robot mode since I covered the main high points and the one low point.

Transformation: 6 - The only reason it's this high with those horribly disguised legs is that it is part of a gestalt.
Durability: 8 - Pretty solid, but the blades on mine are getting looser and looser and I'm afraid they won't be perfectly aligned much longer.
Fun: 9 - Not many weapons, but still a lot of fun.
Price: 10 - Like the other gestalt limbs (excluding the constructicons), a bargain at the Basic price-point.
Summary: 8 - Worth checking out if you're not going for the gestalt, mandatory purchase if you are.
