Sir Auros' review of: Kickback

Name: Kickback
Allegiance: Decepticon
Function: Gunner
Sub-Group: Combaticons

Finally found a Kickback and Stormcloud the other night (in the local Kmart of all places), but didn't see a trace of the last two aerialbots the two were supposedly packaged with. Unlike the constructicons, Kickback and Stormcloud are good figures in their own right and would be fun even if they weren't part of a gestalt.

Vehicle Mode:
Kickback is some sort of funky, futuristic mobile artillery. Looks pretty darned good in this mode and hides the robot mode fairly well except for the hands making a bizarre appearance near the back of the vehicle. The coolest feature about the vehicle mode is that the guns can move. That's sweet. Really sweet. The vehicle is just a lot of fun. It's a nifty little tank that can roll around and reposition its guns. The fact that you can add on two more barrels made of pure, blue energon is just icing on the cake. The delicious, sweet tank-cake.

Robot Mode:
Unlike his constructicon cousin Duststorm, Kickback has a good robot mode. The guns from the vehicle mode turn around and become arm cannons of the coolest degree. Kickback can also hold his energon weapon in this mode giving him even more armaments. Like most of the other Energon figures, Kickback has a great range of motion due to heavy articulation. There are only a few minor complaints I have with this mode and they all have to do with aesthetics. I like the tank treads becoming strange quasi-cape-things, but they can end up hindering the posing for the figure. The head seems strange with the three little turrets on either side and the feet look silly. They're completely flat sheets of the tank mode's armor. Look like snowshoes or something. Other than those few things, Kickback has a solid, fun robot mode.

Transformation: 7 - Simple and advanced enough to be part of a gestalt, but I wish they could've hidden those hands better.
Durability: 8 - Pretty high durability having mostly ball and socket joints, but the guns on mine have become extremely loose and pop off quite frequently.
Fun: 10 - Heavily armed, great articulation, and part of a badass gestalt.
Price: 10 - It's a Basic baby!
Summary: 9 - Sweet little Energon figure even if you aren't going for the gestalt.
