Once a top-notch Autobot warrior, Blades has left behind the service and his Protectobot teammates for a career with Tzai Industries. A street fighter who prefers to get as close to his enemies as he can before slicing them open with his rotor blades, he often came into conflict with his Autobot peers because of his bloodthirsty attitude. With the Tzai he found that sort of behaviour welcomed, and in fact quickly rose to become the student/bodyguard for Banzaitron, the owner of the corporation.
History
Blades’ unruly nature regularly put him at odds with his former comrades, The Protectobots and members of the ISS force. So much, that his former commander, Hot Spot, regularly petitioned for reviews against Blades to be dropped. However, following a botched sting operation (which Blades was held accountable for), Hot Spot was finally pressured by Red Alert to discharge Blades on charges of repeated counts of misconduct and dereliction of duty.
Following his leave, Blades relocated to the Border Regions where he went through a brief stint of depression. One day however, during a scuffle with a local tripwire dealer, Blades received the attention of the once-bounty hunter Axer, under the pretense that that he was a recruiter for a Border Region pitfighting racket. As it turned out, Axer was also the head of a Border Region “community center” under the dubious title Peacekeepers Inc, a branch of Tzai Industries. Blades’ life would be irrevocably changed forever. During his time with Peacekeepers, Blades and Axer would develop what could be interpreted as a friendship, with the Peacekeeper owner often expressing his concern for the headstrong Blades. Quickly, he became a local sensation in the arenas, drawing in much attention from gamblers and challengers foolish enough to fight him alike - including the owner of Tzai Industries, Banzaitron. After a near fatal bout with a challenger named “Tin Omen”, which Blades won, his unconscious body was taken (conveniently enough) to a Tzai owned lab, where horrible things were done to his neo-cortex without his consent.
Upon awakening and with little say in the matter, Blades was told to report to the Tzai Industry Holdings building for reassignment – as Banzaitron’s bodyguard and student. Banzaitron, though a generous employer, was a very cruel teacher and taught under an unforgiving curriculum. Though the device implanted within Blades’ neo-cortex, which Banzaitron openly admitted its' purpose, contained a data-file of the “Crystalocution” art, there was also a remotely activated device that would send painful electro-convulsive prompts in order to “tame” the unruly Blades during his conditioning – which Banzaitron administered regularly. Though Blades has further become a formidable fighter, he remains with The Tzai out of necessity and fear.
During the Tzai-lead massacre against the organization known as The Metacarpus, Blades was forced to take out one of latter organization’s key directors. He was then instructed to destroy the Metacarpus director’s storehouse following his execution. Incidentally, The Wrecker named Whirl, and his collaborator Gearbox, were also investigating the site before it went up in flames, taking Gearbox along with it. Naturally, this prompted a further, though secret, investigation led by Whirl himself and the former-Protectobot, First Aid.
