Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
Snap. Shame I didn't realise there was a waiting list to sign up sooner or would have done that before the big backlogs. Almost tempted to pay a bit for one.
Will keep you in mind if I get anything.

Thanks! Same.
Yeah. I'm signed up but I don't expect to see anything for awhile.

Well, many are fairly far to the right anyway and having a disinformation-friendly platform is a general plus. But also Twitter came with 15+ years of data, including direct messages, contact details and context which is a gift to certain regimes and interests,
Second largest investors in Twitter have started executions of users.

Bets on whether he gets slapped down by anyone re: the platform suicide plan to charge all users?
Sades, if you're not already sorted by the time I start getting invite codes, someone kindly got me onto Bluesky yesterday. First impressions are surprise there's no MFA even if it'd be emailing one-time use codes, and the web design is obviously a bit cobbled together right now. It kind of reminds me of forums twenty years ago at this point, people just posting random shit. This is no bad thing.
Any other regulars interested as and when?

Changed my display name and picture to screen name on X after the latest raft of changes.
Loosely (fnarr) on Threads but will be using Twitter less going forwards.
Signed up to the queue for Bluesky, more out of curiosity for the new hotness
Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
Pretty much. Only had a brief look-see so far. Try not to spend too much time doom-scrolling anyway, so the vibe on Bluesky is nicer at the moment. If a few other people who share news got on board, it'd be a fairly effective replacement (and also more depressing, given the state of news and the world these days -- so a bit double edged sword really).
I think they've added a web interface to Threads now? Wasn't one initially, so I haven't done anything with that account. Surprised at how rushed it was for an Inst/FB backed site, considered that more could have been done in the time.
If we can snowball more people onto Bluesky I'm sure there won't be a shortage of invites after a while. I don't actually think Space Karen's plan to hope that bot owners don't have enough stolen credit card details to go around to impact on spam/hate will come to fruition (not that he cares about the content or devaluing the platform) but reality hasn't stopped other things and it is notable how many people are openly posting codes now.

I'm still sort-of thinking he's trying to kill the platform, for whatever reason.
\o/ Twt replacement ftw. I want out of the dumpster fire.Sades, if you're not already sorted by the time I start getting invite codes, someone kindly got me onto Bluesky yesterday.
Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
Meta's also been warned, but a possible endgame here is that Musk gets fined, can't/doesn't pay it, and Twitter gets blocked in European countries. And the lid comes off the can of worms on Russian, Chinese, etc, disinformation.

Got a few Bluesky codes if anyone's after. Only not posting them publicly because a) they're getting scraped from Twitter and the web by bots for far right groups, and b) I think BS are sensible enough to track how they're used and slow/stop giving codes to people who facilitate spammers, etc.

Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
I was enjoying the show but old 'friends' of mine believe the company's value is increasing. So no matter how terrible he is, real people think he's winning.
Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
Real or Waco / tech-bro end of the scale?
He's certainly got a lite version of the Steve Jobs field, but with most of the site's income gone and heavy users being classed as people who visit roughly once a day and share a few tweets, etc, most estimates seem to put the net attrition at upwards of a million a day.

Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
I think I read something on probably Reddit that said that the company had lost something like 70% of its value since that moron took over. Of course, I didn't click in to read, check to see what the source was and it was just in passing, so I'm not even sure of the percentage.
Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
Bluesky is better anyway.
Less pronbots too.
