Looks good. I especially like Hot Rod's design.

I see Don's detailed face phase continues. Shame.

The ongoing. Starts in November. Written by Mike Costa (writing comics since 2008, already works for IDW doing one of their GI Joe books, so marginally less qualified than Shane McCarthy), and drawn by Don "I'm not doing Transformers anymore" Figueroa.

I've been reading some swanky reviews of Costas' work on Starscream, and enjoyed the Hawksmoor thingie. Pretty good news all-in-all. :) - Thanky

... excellent news actually. Just the title of an ongoing series brings back a bunch of nostalgia.

That's Don?

...

It appears that he had changed his drawing style in the faces department. Hot Rod looks like a cross between his G1 face and the movieverse designs. Oh, and Hot Rod has seemingly returned to his IDW Devastation design. Joy.

Actually, I'm really happy to see the return of the -ation designs. I loved the redesigns IDW did originally (and really disliked the AHM return to "authentic" G1 designs...although some were definately from Universe: Classics, like Sideswipe). So, I'm hoping for more of a -ation design with this new book.

Yeah, I hadn't noticed the thread title was a bit vague, have edited it to make it clearer.

Costa Coffee is very nice so I expect great things of the ongoing.

I agree wholeheartedly. McCarthy's aparently-random return to G1 designs confused/annoyed the crap out of me; the TFs' alt. modes taking a timeslide was utterly pointless - 'robots who stick out like sore thumbs' indeed. The IDW redesigns give them a look which makes sense in the here and now.

Very happy to see IDW getting their act together in this respect.

MovieFaces=FAIL, but I guess that is a small price to pay for the franchise being carried by a super-blockbuster motion picture.

Really not keen on the faces in dons new style. Felt Ironhide had more then a hint of Johnny "short circuit" 5 in AHM #13. Definitely would prefer EJ or Roche on this. DF is a good artist, no question, but I feel Nick and EJ have managed to convey much more character with their drawings then just about anyone since DW took over.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that IDW is willing to take a few plot risks here and try something different. Also: less foreshadowing please.

Prime: "LOOK! A DUCK! SHOOT IT!!"

Hot Rod: "I dunno. Playing video games in real life doesn't sound like a good idea."

Ironhide: "Ah'm thinkin'... whut... 250 gauge shell?"

It looks good, but that's the first thing that went through my mind when I saw it......
