I think they did a fairly good job on both the robot and alt. modes.
Though it does bug me why they havbe an alternate mode solely for atmospheric entry purposes.

Noticeably cybertronian but yet very alien. Its the best of both worlds. :)
Once upon a time, there was a little girl who hadn't seen her mother for seven years.
One day, on the way to her mother, she met a wolf.
The wolf asked her if she would be taking the path of pins, or the path of needles.
When the girl said she would be taking the path of pins, the wolf hurried of down the path of needles, and ate up the little girls' mother.

Of course. That's why Rob Orci was saying it was silly that they had a spaceship for interstellar travel when they can turn into whatever they want - Hasbro wanted to get another set of toys out of it.

I imagine Hasbro would have found a way to get more toys out of it, whatever the concept.

Prime has paws with toes, and is generally ape-like and prehensile. The head sculpt is a bit more fluidly shaped and closer to the Primals than to classic Op.

Valkyrie lines and stylings in there as well as the Seeker chest turbines. Someone amongst the designers likes Japanese mecha, at a guess.

Certainly not a bad thing, at least in my books!

I do like the robot designs, and I have nowt against the alt modes - I just can't get round the colours, and I do think they look to have very similar transformations... something no amount of mecha worship can remedie!

And they really need a lotion for that back problem...

But, all things considered, I reckon I could easily end up picking them up, if it weren't for the apparent price!

No way are these worth anything near £17. Maybe a tenner at a stretch but thats it.

These remind me of Beast Wars a lot and not just cause they're protoforms. Prime has a Cheetor-esque look to him, and Starscream more of a Waspinator. Typical sneak-preview stuff though. These'll be the things that will warm shelfs for months.

It's the back of box pic has the mecha, Valkyrie-ish stylings. The toy itself doesn't look a lot like anything, due to the flat plastic tone.

(On a side note, Hasbro's airbrushed stock photography is probably going to land them in hot water for wrongful advertising one of these days, in the UK at least...)

Screamer! Slurp! Gimme!!!!!!!!

Colours might not be so hot, but he's looking good and is more like what I might have expected. Guy needs wings.... Anyways, according to G1, Screamer can fly into space (Fire in the Sky), and he does same when carrying Arkeville; suppose I can live with Shi'ar styling in the movie until he gets to be a F22.

Prime is way cool. Might even be tempted to splash a little cash on him, but colours are, again, a bit off. And I will not believe Prime as a spaceship. It's kinda....wrong.

Hmm, I do like it, but Screamer HAS to have wings. He has almost no similarity to the original design except for the name.
I also like the transition of the Waspinator-esque face to the f-22 body.

Im curious as well to see what they do for Megsy.
