Details about Club exclusive Astrotrain (Armada Jetfire repaint) confirmed

In the newest issue of Master Collector, there's a short article on Astrotrain, as well as a drawing of Astrotrain and his partially-shadowed Minicons.

First-- the Minicon repaints that will be coming with Astrotrain are the GIANT PLANET TEAM. From the drawing, Longarm has been repainted orange and blue (or purple, it's hard to tell), Overcast has been repainted blue (or purple) and gold, and.. I can't really see much of Deepdive's coloration from the picture, other than some gray on his shoulders. It's not mentioned which Minicon is named which, except that the Comettor repaint in gray and blue/purple is named STARCATCHER. (A nice compromise between the suggested joke name "Cowcatcher" on the Club forums!) Also, it looks like Astrotrain is part of Cannonball's crew-- another suggestion from the Club forums made reality!

There will also be an as-yet-unannounced second club exclusive figure to be released at about the same time as Astrotrain this fall. China has been very slow getting back to MC about the pricing info and such, and they are sorry for the delay.

Also, when the Astrotrain figure is released this fall, an illustrated text story will accompany it.
For those who don't remember, Astrotrain will sport the color scheme of the unreleased Universe Spacewarp repaint of Armada Jetfire and a new, G1-esque Astrotrain head sculpt designed by Dan Khanna.

Apparently the Space Team molds will (can) never ever be released again.

That really one of the nicest colour schemes i've seen. The symbol is a nice touch.

Neither's probably 100 percent accurate. But it's likely that the molds are too worn to get another 'justifiable' run right now. There have been several printings of them in the United States alone, and Japan had a couple of more versions on top of that.

the Space Team was last used in the Cybertron 2-packs, but this same Space Team has had 2 cancelled recolors as well

there also have been other minicons with more recolors, so worn out is least likely to me, and 'they were already recolored this year' cannot be a valid option either, it's not the first time a mold was used more than once during one year

Of all Jetfires, they chose one whose articulation and design is hampered by his ability to join with superpants Prime?

from: http://www.allspark.com/index.php?optio ... &Itemid=20
For example they had the Space minicons set to be used, but Takara said that all the minicon tools are all bad and can't be used. This is probably an excuse not to make them for an unknown reason.

but again: those molds were used ealier this year, and they are not the most repainted minicons either, so I really doubt that they indeed are already worn out

Energon Jetfire and Cybertron Jetfire are not better, actually.

Shuttle mode looks quite nice. I really like this mold, but I have both versions of A. Jetfire, so I'll most likely pass. Though, I'm interested to see the new headsculpt.

Well, this exclusive (as 'Spacewarp') has been in the works since Armada was on the shelves, so it's been a long time coming. That's the basic reason this exclusive even exists.

Energon Jetfire is a pretty weak figure, honestly, with a space shuttle on a robot's back. 'Pants mode' aside, he's weaker, in my opinion, than Armada Jetfire as a choice.

Cybertron Jetfire isn't even a space shuttle, so Astrotrain would make no sense.
