That's only on Earth, though. Aren't they still vehicle based on Cybertron (or as vehicle based as they were in G1)?

And if anyone remembers Botanica it would seem that Transformers also gained the ability to take on just about any mode you could think of. Due to the DNA scanners they can adapt to any planetary environment by taking native forms.

Those who can't adapt don't survive very long.

The scanners are really very cool. Humans ought to have something along those lines to change genetic structure. Then we wouldn't have to hear folks complaining how hot and cold it is.

is it true that the maximal/Preds had different names on cybertron?

i heard somwhere that Dinobot was called Dynamo on Cybertron.

also are the Predacons on BW related to the G1 Preds?, maybe there was an uprising against the original Decepticons...?

I saw the last episode of Beast Machines a few years ago and I can't remember how Cybertron turned organic. I know Botanica had something to do with it

Well the Maximals seem to give themselves new names to suit their alt-modes in the first episode, and most of them would make no sense on Cybertron before they had beast modes. But then again everyone seems to know everyone else's name automatically, including Depth Charge.

I've never heard the Dinobot/Dynamo thing.

According to Megatron, some of them are descended from Decepticons, whereas others (Tarantulas and the Tripredacus Counsel are the only ones mentioned) have "other origins" ("Unicron's spawn").
