Mystery pack-in bonus / cloak and dagger with the fanclub again...

Post by Denyer »

http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1591
a 3", fully realized Unicron head, with mechanical tentacles on the bottom, and half his face shorn off, revealing its mechanical substructure.

It's awesome, and it'll be released with the initial wave of Primus figures later this year.
Apparently the images were posted to the members section of the official Transformers fanclub, so if you're of the opinion that getting news slightly earlier is worth an annual subscription you can register here.

I'm not sure if Susp is being at all sarcastic with the description, but you know the drill... if anyone has/wants pics, head for a seedier website to post/see them.

Additional: the head will apparently be packed with only initial stock of the Cybertron Primus toy, probably to encourage more to buy early on rather than wait for possible clearance sales. If true, it's likely this won't be common (if actually available) outside the US.

[edit] Having just seen it... er, my recommendation would be to not bother looking for pics. Get Primus if you think it's a cool toy, but the Unicron head isn't anything special. [/edit]

UPDATE:

Q: What's the latest on the new Cybertron Primus item for this fall? When will it be available? I heard that the US version will have something unique vs. the Japanese version- what's the scoop?

A: We can tell by the number of emails that there is great excitement for this character. The mighty creator of the Transformers race will be released this summer to all stores. You can change him from robot-mode to battle station-mode to planet-mode, and unlock cool features with the Cyber Planet Key. In addition, the INITIAL quantities will include a bonus 3-inch battle-damaged Unicron head (US only). Here's the first look at the Unicron head. Enjoy!

So, if I'm reading this right we'll have two Unicrons; The tank and the head.

He didn't actually say people would, only that they'd probably want to.

Which apparently was optimistic.

IIRC (I wasn`t there, but from what I`ve read), he never said people would buy two. He just said that it would be an exclusive pack-in that would make the people that already had GF Primus want this one as well.

I still don't see why this would make you buy a Cybertron Primus if you already had the GF one. Unicron's head does not make it worth it except to the most extreme (insane?) completists.

Wow, anyone remember those dead TF Terminator sigpics I did for people a couple of years ago to irritate that perverted psycho girl? That's what Unicron looks like only with big, fat tentacles underneath.

Utter ass.

The pic can now be officially viewed at the Hasbro website.

Dated February 22? Does this mean all this bitching about not being allowed to show the pic was for nothing?

Wouldn't be surprising.

Personally I'm not bitching -- I simply view dividing a group of fans on the basis of simple information as being divisive and unlikely to result in good things. The club is charged with promoting the brand as well as making a buck from it, and I consider they'd do a better job of that by using their access to news to drive traffic to their site and get people to join up / buy exclusives.

I think that Unicron head is the greatest thing in the history of forever and that whomsoever at Hasbro had the idea should be made a Knight of the Galactic Empire foreverandever.

I plan to buy as many Hasbro Primus toys as I can find and never touch anything by Takara again.

I love you, Hasbro.

Don't care for the tentacles much. Otherwise, pretty nifty.

Thing is, I really have no interest in Primus at all. I mean, he looks great, but...I just don't need him. Guess this one's an easy choice for me.

I like the Terminator face. It doesn't really make any sense, but I like it nonetheless.

I also just realized something: this is the first tangible evidence that Hasbro's recognizing that the Supremes don't sell well.

Im not too into the fantasic 'extra' i much rather have the GF primus with its g1 style box that will fit in nicely to all my boxed g1 figures :-) I wish they would have done this for unicron as well.
