Mini-cons--Yay or Nay

Minicons... I know it's early, and not much is known about them, but I'm wondering what your initial thoughts on them are. :) Do you absolutely abhor the idea of them or do you eagerly await them--or could you care less?

I like the fact that they give the Autobots and Decepticons a lot more abilities. I think they'll be a really good gimmick as toys. I'm not positive about how good they'll be for a TV show though.

What do you expect for that size?

I like them, the idea sounds good. Looking forward to seeing them animated. They even have a 3 member Minicon Gestalt.

Hrm, not too bad of an idea, I'd say. Let's see if Hasbro and the cartoon can implement it correctly.

This is the "G1 Megatron" syndrome:

"Hey guys, what's your power?"
"Er... we combine into a giant sword"
"And...?"
"And then we wait till someone use us"

Not only that, but *three* guys that form *one* sword?

In the old days, one Targetmaster transformed into one gun.

From the pics at least, the Mini-cons look dumb. But then again, I was never a fan of the minibots. But sticking them on the Transformers like a parasite is stupid-looking. I esp. hate the one on top of Starscream in the jet form.

I guess they're not too bad.

Hey Raiden, you think Starscream's minicon looks bad when he's stuck on Starscream's back in jet mode? Look how stupid he looks with that guy stuck on his head in robot mode!

It seems like a good idea in theory, but in practice it looks like the big TFs just look like they've got little robotic leeches hanging onto them, as Raiden astutely pointed out. Bah.

You know those wire frames that they sometimes use for animation, and I think they use them in claymation? Yeah, those are what the minicons look like. Also, they should have given them a more neutral name.

Hmmm... robotic leeches... never thought of that, really. Good theory, though. I also agree Hasbro should have chosen a more neutral name for them. "MiniCons" sounds too much affiliated with the Deceps for obvious reasons. I have formed a concrete opinion on some of them though: I definately HATE the ones that convert into bicycles and skate boards and the like... what in the blue hell were they thinking!?
