Would anyone really be sad if I locked this thread right now?

Like... how's about people talk about the movies they've watched instead of just listing them? Like... humans.

... We're humans, right? >.>

Not feeling particularity human. Unsure if many people buy physical media any more.

Picked up a 4K of Coppola's Dracula to see if I can get a good enough quality still of the "young Dracula" painting -- http://paintingsinmovies.com/m/view/id/173 -- to get a print of it. Not sure if the drive I've got will read it or patch to read it, might need to source one first. It's an interesting film for art references in general -- https://nicklouras.com/2020/10/17/the-a ... racula-92/

Still haven't watched Bill & Ted 3.

Not going near cinemas in the foreseeable future. Not so much pandemic related, haven't really got the patience or comfort level to sit through anything much longer than an hour.

I mean, the topic title is literally "Latest DVD Purchases" so just listing them is on topic, otherwise I have so little time on these boards that I can't really talk about my thoughts on a thing I've watched.

Meanwhile, things I've bought:

Mortal Kombat (2021) steelbook
WWE Royal Rumble 2021
WWE Wrestlemania 37 (2021)
The Orville seasons 1&2
NCIS Season 16

Mortal Kombat (2021) was a movie I enjoyed with Josh Lawsons Kano getting the best lines as the sweary comic relief, both Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion/Sub-Zero fights are the best fights in the movie, specifically the first fight.

I collect Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania PPV DVDs and with them being half-price I had to get them.

I like Seth Mcfarlane projects so figured I'd check The Orville out.

Finally, I enjoy NCIS and some the police procedural shows so I bought a season of that.

That reminds me I should get back to the Orville and watch the second series. Have you seen Lower Decks? The official stuff has leaned into comedy now, but the Orville reminds me far more of Galaxy Quest -- both are more homages to Star Trek rather than parody or laugh-out-loud funny.

No, I haven't seen Lower Decks, I don't know what service streams it.

Otherwise, I've gotten the Black Widow Blu-Ray Steelbook, Batman: The Long Halloween Parts 1 & 2 and Mortal Kombat: Battle of the Realms at JB Hi-Fi.

Amazon (we've got a household sub for the postage) although it's popular enough that it seems to get ripped instantly. Their rolling selection of panel shows, comedy and documentaries isn't bad, though -- some nice retro oriented stuff such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eye-Beholder-A ... B07Q32R7D7 I'd not have expected.

I have tried to watch various Seth McFarlane TV shows and movies over the years and I'm sorry but I generally just find them not very funny at all.

I saw the trailer for the first season of Star Trek: Lower Decks was unimpressed by it in general, I didn't like the character design and the humor in general was awful IMHO. In the trailer for season 2, it just seemed like bad pandering fanservice to me. I mean if a trailer for comedy should make me laugh or at the very least make even crack a smile then it's not going to make laugh or smile and why should I bother? All the trailers for Lower Decks did was make want NOT want to watch the series.

Now Star Trek: Prodigy on the other hand looks awesome as hell and I can't wait for it too start. If it's half as good as Discovery season 3's premier was then I won't be disappointed, now if 100% sucks like Man of Steel did then everyone around me will know of my displeasure.

In the states Paramount+ is the only major streaming platform that runs Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Short Treks, and the upcoming Prodigy and Strange New Worlds and all of the previous shows. A quick bit of news: Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise will be leaving Netflix (at least in the US) at the end of September 2021 while only TNG and DS9 seem to be staying for the time being.

Ah, Amazon, I see, I'll add it to the list.

NCIS Seasons 15 & 17 - 2 for $40 JB Hi-Fi deal here.
