Post by Vin Ghostal »

Yeah...only six weeks after purchasing our first home (just outside D.C., at a whopping $600,000), my wife decided to switch to a firm that is not accessible via the Metro, and thus we bought (in cash) a 2010 Honda Fit Sport for her. My hair is falling out every time I look at my bank statements. We'll be fine, but it's simply amazing how many years' of savings can go up in the smoke generated by one blaze of spending glory. My blood pressure medication dosage is up. Comfort me.

I'll be looking at a first home soon. No where near the $600K range, but more like $200K. But that's also around Loveland, CO, not around DC. Sometimes the difference in cost of living from one region of the US to the other is staggering....

It's obscene - if you drive a half hour west of the city, you can get freakin' palaces for $350K. This close to the city (we live in Alexandria, VA), you can't get anything bigger than a bungalow for $400K, and ours is only a townhouse. It's truly absurd.

No, I can't. It's too hard.

We saved some money for house upgrade but then the AC compressor died and we end up have to replace the entire furnace and AC. Even with the 1500 tax credit but still hurts so much because you won't get it until next year.

You're in luck, I happen to have won $247553093636 million on the Nigerian lottery but don't have the ten grand needed to release it, by simply sending me this cash I will split the prize with you.
