So will Marvel get Disnified, or will it just mean wider distribution? I'm curious what kind of impact it'll have.
Man, I just hope Disney does not screw up Marvel to the point that Marvel gets Mickey Mouse-ified.

Hmmm.... Kind of ironically, considering everyone is moaning about Disney messing with Marvel, Warner Bros have announced a major restructuring of DC and its properties under the banner of "DC Entertainment Inc."

Here are 3 articles so far on the subject -

Not sure what this would technically mean for the company as yet, aside from them possibly making more of a move to consolidate all their different mediums in to one handy package, and possibly create a shared movie verse a la marvel.

Walt Disney Company President and CEO Bob Iger restates the Marvel Merger, Marvel to remain as a separate entity from Disney and will remain to operate as is, and while crossovers are not happening as of yet, it's only a matter of time.

Walt Disney Company President and CEO Bob Iger made a surprise press conference appearance at Disney's D23 Expo, answering questions about the expo and Disney's plans for the future.

One of the hot questions was in regard to Disney's announcement last week that the company had acquired MarvelEntertainment, the news of which (so far) has not made any appearance at the Expo.

Iger stressed the notion that fans can expect Marvel to continue to operate as it has.

"We're not planning on any 'Disneyfication' of Marvel," said Iger, "...Our intention is to keep Marvel as an entity."

Iger went on to explain that he has met with a great many Marvel talents and that, like the acquisition of Pixar, Disney's primary goal is to stay on the sidelines and let the artists do what they do best.

He did admit that he was excited about the chance for some cross-pollination in the future, though nothing is planned as of yet.

Iger reiterated that part of what is so intriguing about Marvel is that the deal is designed to play out in the long run, having characters that "transcend gender and age." In the short term, Disney just has to wait until some of the Marvel deals already in place with other studios and theme parks "work their course" and, until then, "there isn't much planning to be done."

I really don't think its much to worry about. Disney bought Marvel because they see it as a chance to make more money. Its doubtful that they'd think alienating the fanbase is the way to go, at least as far as the comics are concerned. It'll be no different than what happened with DC. I'm sure they'll have a crossover or two, but it's not like Marvel didn't already do a crossover with Punisher and friggin Archie.
