That only seems to be a few nutters, no major political party in general has ever been against the NHS, but both left and right have criticised the governments running of it in opposition.Sir Auros wrote:I think that "socialism" is the new "Nazi" as far as internet discussions go. No, we're not going to start pushing old people off cliffs, and you sound like an idiot when you say shit like that, Sarah Palin. Also, how do you Brits feel about the right-wingers in our country slagging your health care system? Were you aware that you're all red bastards who hate freedom?

Wrong. Plain, flat-out, wrong. Everyone deserves FREE health care, regardless of whether they're able to pay for it. In just about everywhere else in the Western world, insurance is NOT expensive, and everyone in the country is guaranteed health care for free. In our "great" country, hospitals will pull people out of hospital beds, put them in an ambulance, and dump them on the street near another hospital or clinic if they cannot pay for their treatments. Plus, health treatment is one of the leading (if not THE leading) reason for bankruptcies in the U.S. But, hey, that's all part of life.Notabot wrote:I like how many people supporting the Obama plan uses the notion that "everyone deserves health care" as if under the current system there are people denied it. "Health insurance" does not equal "health care". In fact, I don't think anyone is even denied health insurance. Yes, it's expensive, but that's life.
Well, not free, but not paid for on the spot like screws at a hardware store. The thing is that insurance is for the oddball chance that something happens. For cars, it'd be a wreck. However, health care is something everybody needs at regular intervals of life, making an insurance model a very poor way to provide service.Vin Ghostal wrote:Wrong. Plain, flat-out, wrong. Unlike screws at a hardware store though, people need health care and normally can't foot the cost directly themselves.
I remember the blip on the news a few weeks ago stating that the leading cause of mortgage foreclosure in 2007 was debt related to health care.Plus, health treatment is one of the leading (if not THE leading) reason for bankruptcies in the U.S. But, hey, that's all part of life.

I remember a gentleman that was working at one of the local hospitals back in 2005 and he was selling his pride and joy, a 1972 vw beetle, even if in parts, was a complete car with everything new. he needed whatever the amount of money just for the back surgery and was willing to part with his dream car due to it. surgeries are ridiculously expensive and sometimes one cannot even get a doctor who is even qualified to do the said surgeries from time to time. maybe instead of giving stuff for free for the moment, they re-evaluate doctors to see who is qualified and who isn't. there are other trivialities going on i am sure, but if my surgery is expensive, i want to be sure i have the best damn doc there is, and not some quack who got his diploma from a cracker jack box.Clay wrote:Well, not free, but not paid for on the spot like screws at a hardware store.
