more hand made furniture from myself, yes.
more walking and bike riding than driving, definitely.
become an angry villager and go get my pitchfork and torch, you betcha!
become Richard, Mistress of Magma, maybe.
those are my plans at least. i love the comical content of this thread

BTW ... I read an as yet unsubstantiated rumor today that Treasury is considering letting people take bonds in place of their tax returns.
A step up from Ahnold's I.O.U.s ... barely.
If I see anything credible I'll post about it. Personally, I'm starting to think not going with a supplemental portfolio of canned beans and shotgun shells as soon as the bailouts under the last administration were announced was a bad move on my part....

The Onion made a funny video about the US government trying to nullify the debt by staging a fake coup. During the course of the video you actually see the options listed on which I based the first post (though I added commentary from the recording clerk or committee chair to those making the suggestions).secretcode wrote:Uh... what's this thread about, again?
The strange thing is, there seems to be rumblings that the Fed is attempting a version of one of the "options" The Onion's comedy skit listed ... essentially IOUs (as California has actually done).
Even scarier (and besides the humorous intent of the OP) is that these real life bankers may be manipulating the recent Treasury bond auctions to hide the fact that they may be printing money as fast as they can. Essentially, buying back recently sold bonds at elevated prices with said newly printed money. This still falls into the "alleged" category ... but admittedly tinfoil hats may turn out to be very fashionable in the coming days if "alleged" turns out to be true.
