Rowan Atkinson, after Blackadder 4. Even Hot Shots. And then there's that whole Mr. Bean fiasco.

I liked Ace Ventura.

That said, wouldn't want to rewatch it now...

"Your entrance was good, his was better. The difference? Showmanship!"

I voted for Atkinson.

[EDIT] Ventura's aged better than you'd think. The sequel, notsomuch. Not that When Nature Calls was particularly funny in the first place.

Jim Carrey all the way... What was his last great film exactly? Last I remember is Liar Liar.

I didn't think 23 was that bad of a film, but Jim Carreys career has been on hte downhill side for quite a while now. So,I went with him.Though I think his last good to decent film was Bruce Almighty...

I might've laughed as a kid, but increasingly what passes for comedy seems to be utterly moronic shite.

More generally...

"Shock" has replaced humour, and I don't find anything very shocking.

Is it just me or does John Cleese come across as an extremely serious man in interviews? At least Rowan Atkinson is aware of the absolute rubbish he does an' is able to take the piss out of himself.

Unfortunately it seems when comedians hit a certain age, they often just stop being funny. Doesn't happen to everyone (Spike Milligan being an obvious exception), but when it does the choice is either to do host a historical/nature program or do something embarrassingly unfunny.

We all get less good as we get old. I mean, look at Cliffjumper, this poll isn't nearly as good as the ones he was doing two or three years ago.

Eternal Sunshine of the Sportless Mind was an outstanding film. Carrey has at least done a few peices of good work here and there since his comedy era which was never that good so i'd hardly say his career has massively gone downhill.

I voted Idle. Nothing since Python. Cleese at least had another comedy series and a Fish called Wanda. The Red Dwarf lot have in weirdly decent stuff here and there or been the best thing in something poor.
Atkinson has made a few good appearences post Blackadder and I've always liekd Dawn French. As for Eastwood, I miss the bitch slapping monkey but you can hardly say his career has gone downhill.

What?!? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?

Incidentally, I still find Ace Ventura pretty funny. The Cable Guy and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls come off as pretty irritating now, and The Mask is positively dreadful now, even though I enjoyed it when I was 13. I haven't watched Liar Liar in a few years, but it's probably aged better than most of the others. Ace Ventura is still great though.

Mhm. I picked it up cheap at the back end of last year, thinking it'd be a good fun bit of cheesy retro for a lazy Sunday afternoon... spent the entire film wondering what the **** I'd been thinking...

John Cleese for me, simply because he was so funny to begin with and to see it completely disappear over the years is tragic.

John Cleese, he's done far too many shitty cameos in unfunny shows and movies.

Cleese.

Sorry, Cliffy: It's all the 'training' films we've had to watch at work that brought him the biggest fall from grace. The worst one was about global warming and how DWP staff could save the world by switching off lights and computers at the end of the day...
