Taking down Scientology!

Post by Sociopathic Autobot »

BRING SCIENTOLOGY DOWN

Scientology is trying to remove any existence of this on the internet and ultimately total existence in general. As normal, non-crazy people, our job is to stop that. Spread the word!

my old roomate had an american friend whos father is a scientologist (i know it sounds like the beginning of an urban legend) anyway his parents had messy divorce over it and he doesnt see his dad anymore. all he ever said of him was that he was a rich prickwho gave his money away to some cult.

Thus answering redman prime's question.

John Q. Public doesn't have the liquid assets necessary to get too far in the church.

Did you know that they advertise for volunteer helpers? Really? Saw ad in The Express asking whether people wanted to help a church in the community, thus gaining valuable work experience. Wonder if the interview starts - 'Say, do you know this SF writer...?'

Frankly, I'd rather be Jedi. ;)

Its very very sad when that happens, my bros ex-s mother was "brainwashed" by what was believed to be a mormon group (but since things started going wrong its believed they were a cult posing as mormons) everything was fine at first, but eventually things started going wrong. She would give a percentage (a fairly hefty percentage) of her monthly pay to them, things got really bad when her Aunt died and she inherited loads of stuff (including a house) and she gave it all to them (including the house) then she began demanding her husband give a large percentage of his pay to them aswell. At that point he up and left.

Things went downhill from then on, she began acting really strange, and one christmas when asked what she wanted for Christmas she said "A tent" when asked why, she completely seriously said "Because I will be the only one to survive the second coming of Christ, and everything will be destroyed but my tent and what ever is in it."

Religions are cults by definition.

My experience of the church of latter-day saints has extended to two things -- secondary school level history, and I don't think many people who've sat down and read the story of Joseph Smith would be likely to go on to believe it; and one of my friends from primary school being killed by her father because he found her diary, and the family sticking by him.

Neither's really endeared the religion much, although I think the history and RE lessons were valuable, even though the latter were somewhat heavily biased towards C of E. Kids learn to compare and find what's behind the smiles, whether it's an alien dictator, money-grubbing or the fact that most of the population is burning in hellfire according to another chunk of the population. It's not far to "maybe this is a crock of **** some people tell other people to get them to do what they want."

we are deviating from scientolgy to mormon's, but that's another corrupt institution in and of itself..
it's funny, the few mormons that i was good friends with are now
a) a single teenage mother
B) semi-retarded on a permant basis form too many acid hits
and c) goes to church every day and has never touched a soda, chocolate, alcohol, cigarettes, etc..

shows a disparity, eh?

thanks for the links.

i've been turning this over and over in my head, i just don't think i have the mental tools required to understand how people buy into this stuff. mormonism i can get my head round in the sense that it has a moral stance, hell, even christianity had some good ideas.

won't "**** scientology" drive it underground though, along with all the other sect scams, rather than destroying it ? better the devil you know... wise words from kylie.
