Is series 16 news? Kinda given up on LEGO due to lack of time right now, personally, but they look nice enough.

It is to me.

I'm interested in almost all of that shiz. The only one I don't care about is the excited dude carrying camping stuff.

Been tinkering with my Castle stuff again (personal brief: to dress up the 2013 King's Castle with the cool 1980s Castle stuff I loved) and am pretty happy with where I've got to...

The pub I've added a smoke stack to which I think looks a lot better and scrunched it down a shade, having looked at the dinky Elves Tavern set which I adore. I also like the dude stealing a chop and a sausage (thanks make your own Minifigure!).

The forge is the same as that was the first thing I did and I'm still really happy with it.

The Armour Shop has gone through a couple of redesigns and I went back to the original set to look at that how was done and rebuilt mine (much happier with the roof now which is a lot less bulky)

I really wanted to put a stable in there, but was struggling a bit with the brick selection I had, so thought how Castle Draco did it (well I don't think it was a stable, but I used it as one) with the living quarters above. Lacking any roof bricks in blue, I just made use of the top half of one of the many gatehouse sets I bought and plonked that on top. Looks alright. Plus access for the catapult!

Strongest wave yet IMO; some really nice parts and paint apps in there - even the surfer's got his amazing board. In love with any hat with attached hair. Do like the way that after 20-30 years of using the same basic pieces Lego have just gone nuts lately and are moulding whatever they need; the bleed backwards and forwards from their own Minifigures and the licence stuff is really cool.

Each subsequent series of these impresses over the last. There's some really good figures in this line (immediately sought out the Rocket Boy - quite easy to find without grubbing at the packets like a sweaty pervert) and even repeats (another surfer!) look great.

In other Lego related stuff, I bought the dinosaurs set (31058) and its brilliant. They're all great builds and look awesome.

A new store opened up, about 5 or so minutes from my house. It's a new and used Lego store, mom-and-pop owned. You can but bags/buckets of bricks & parts, self-assemble some minifigs, buy new (and recent) boxed sets, and buy used, (near) complete sets from various eras. It's a really fantastic place to kill some time and some money from your wallet!!!

I added a polybag set from the store - 30230 Mini-Mech, from the Galaxy Squad line. This is the only set from that theme that I have, and it's pretty solid for just a few bricks. I also picked up a small bucket of various bricks - mostly space themed parts and I picked up a few that I was missing/couldn't find in my giant tub that go to some of the sets below:

That said, I've been revisiting all of my old Space Lego stuff over the past couple weeks - I hit it hard when the Futuron, M-Tron, and Blacktron II stuff was in stores. In the last few weeks I've put back together several of my old sets that I used to love: 1974 Star Quest, 6830 Strategic Pursuer, 6850 Auxiliary Patroller, 6852 Sonar Security, 1478 Mobile Satellite Up-Link, 6811 Pulsar Charger, 6877 Vector Detector, 6896 Celestial Forager, 6923 Particle Ionizer, 6812 Grid Trekkor, 6832 Super Nova II, 6878 Sub-Orbital Guardian, 6814 Ice Tunnelator, and 6834 Celestial Sled... WHEW!!!

I have a few more to build, but I totally forgot how many Space sets I own from over the years! On top of this, I nabbed a 6851 Tri-Wheeled Tyrax off eBay for a good price, and the darn thing is nearly perfect! I'm not sure if this was ever off a shelf, since the cockpit is spotless. The instruction manual is just about mint as well.

What I never realized until recently, is both the M-Tron and Blacktron II themes had an additional instruction manual to combine 3 sets from each theme into larger 'Super Vehicles'. I owned all but the Tri-Wheeled Tyrax, hence the purchase. My plan is to build the 6 sets now that I own them all, have some fun, then demolish and rebuild the Super Vehicles. It's such a cool feature, and I'm glad I have the opportunity to build them now with my kids. :D

I have some Galaxy Squad stuff, it's a nice neo-Space themed thing. Reminagined with an Aliens/ Starship Troopers vibe. I've sold some of the ones I had, but did keep the Galactic Titan 70709, Hive Crawler 70708 and Eradicator Mech 70707 which are all great. Think I have one of those mini-mech things from the days of newspaper giveaways somewhere too. I like the two-in-one feature for the Squad's vehicles and the alien bugs are super creepy!

Ooh M-Tron! I loved that. Always wanted that big six-wheeled thing and the helicopter one. I liked Blacktron II, but I liked the originals all-black spacesuits and black/yellow/red colourscheme (I think this is partly why I like the Lego Batman Movie stuff so much - his vehicles feel very Blacktron).

In other news, how awesome does the Ideas Voltron set look?!

I remember the GS stuff around in stores, just wasn't buying at the time. The Titan and the Swarm Interceptor looked really tempting, but the Titan was out simply on cost. Should have gotten the Interceptor back then! As it is, the little mini-mech is fun :)

I liked both M-Tron and Blacktron II, but that was really because I had gotten all those sets via gifts, so I have a soft spot for them. I have 4 of the Blacktron I minifigs, so I can only guess that I got them in the Space Minifig box (which also explains my red Futuron guy). I know for sure one of them is from the Invader which I still have parts for, and maybe the fourth is from the Meteor Monitor? Though I can't locate the wings from that set. I really dig the black visors on those guys!

Yeah, the Voltron set looks surprisingly good. I mean, I'm not going to but it, but it looks really good. They did a fantastic job with that one!

Galaxy Squad was one of the very rare times Lego stuff ended up at a discount chain, so I picked up the Titan and a few others for well under half their RRP at B&M (the kind of shop where anything over £10 struggles to shift).

I wish Lego would have another crack at a Space theme. Star Wars seems to dominate so much now that nothing seems to get a look in. Doesn't have to a be a huge thing. I know no one else cared for them much, but I did like the short 5 set runs of Castle and Pirates from about 5 years ago. With just 5 sets, you could collect the line without too much outlay.

Completely agree. I seem to remember reading that over the years, over 200 Space sets have been made across the years and themes. Comparatively, Star Wars sets number in the 600s already! That's absolutely ridiculous. I know it's a popular license, but I can't imagine a separate (small) space theme would bite that hard into sales.

I built a couple of the remaining sets of mine from over the years, with some good classics in there: Blacktron I Invader and the Classic Walking Astro Grappler. I didn't have the original black space guy from the latter, so I replaced him with a spare black Futuron guy that I have. I think the first three older sets I had were the Grappler, the Invader, and the Futuron Auxiliary Patroller. Brings back good memories! All in all, I've put together all 26 sets that I've had in my collection over the last 31-ish years. :) I think now I'll be working with my kids on some customs like a nice little space base, or another ship or two.
