Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Cor, it's July already! Where does the time go? Here's some nonsense I picked up in June :) Energon Ironhide An utterly unloved Tonka toy of a Transformer. He's ugly, has an odd choice of olive mixed in with his otherwise quite pleasant red, white & blues. He is a great toy though, and I am espe...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I really enjoyed putting together a collection of Beast Hunters figures (all sold now). They're such mad colourful things that look like some forgotten '90s toyline. Probably the last time Hasbro went mental with paint apps and different coloured plastics too.

Re: Its so damn watchable!

Really? Even the newest stuff like Alien: Covenant? I tried watching that the other day and it was hard work. Nothing too wrong with it in theory (apart from then not wearing helmets or masks or suits for protection on an alien planet), but all the good bits just seem to be nothing more than a reha...

New on me n'all. DO like the look of that though. And the box art is amazing!

...this isn't a useful post. Sorry.

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Transmetal II Iguanus ... Nice. I still have this and like it a wee bit more than the Universe version (if only because parts of the frill on the TM2 don't pop off all the time), if I'm honest. I love the sculpt on this one. He's asymmetric without totally going mental with it. Love the eye patch a...

um sorry for the double-post. I'm right good with tech. Buzzworthy Bumblebee Silly overpriced set Blackarachnia This thing is glorious. Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Whoop! Another month, and despite being utterly underwhelmed by Legacy and having no real interest in any of it, some colourful repaints of some of the worst Kingdom Deluxes caught my eye. So I bought all three of them. Because that's how toy collecting works. Legacy Sandstorm The sandy tones, orang...

Energon Demolishor Big grumpy fella turns into a big grumpy dump truck. Nice. This is such a simple figure, but he looks great and can shoot loads of missiles. Well four. That counts as loads. Energon Prowl There's something quite Playskool about this design. It looks and feels bigger than it shoul...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

Interesting that we're all feeling a bit tapped out with Legacy. I watched a review of the G2 'Laser' Optimus Prime that's due out and I thought to myself 'they could have just reissued the original and saved themselves the bother'. It brings nothing new to the table (apart from ankle tilts - wooo) ...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

I was just musing over starting a thread musing over collecting habits. I was in Smyths looking at the Legacy stuff and Bumblebee Studio Series figures everyone's lost their minds about (Ratchet now discounted now no-one's buying him as he's discoloured out the box) and just walked away because I ju...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Siege Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime I've been after one of these for a while, having missed the boat. Cheapest way I found to get one was in a lot with a bunch of other Optimus toys (including the original Cybertron toy - the seller was very unimpressed with the Siege version). Fire Trucks really su...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

I've bought a bunch of the Lego Speed Champions 2022 sets over the last couple of weeks. I haven't been so keen on the recent switch to the 8-wide builds, but these sets are really, really good. First one I got was 76908 Lamborghini Countach because I like this car so much. It's curiously sleek and ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Generations Selects Artfire w/ Nightstick I have the MP version, which I've been thinking of moving on, and this'll scale nicely with TFC Stepper/ Ricochet, so with a few quid off at ID Toys, I was happy to pick him up. I don't have any version of the MP Inferno mold, and Artfire seems weird enough...

^The huge test tent in town looks very empty, with bored looking staff twiddling their thumbs. Meanwhile, Wetherspoons opposite is rammed. Not seen much evidence of mask wearing 'round here. Trains and buses are back to being sardined (mainly due to stripping out quite a lot of services now most fol...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Bracing myself for the cost of living to go through the roof from April (just had details of my supplier's electricity charges from April k/wh going up by 10p and standing charges a fraction over double what they used to be), I've been scouting around to hoover up the last few bits and bobs from Kin...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

It's okay. Russia will probably nuke us and make this all very moot... Regardless of Boris' 24 hour party people mentality, I had hoped people would still be taking some precautions, but no. Masks, distancing and washing your hands are out the window. Can't say I'm surprised, tbh. I'm prepared for a...

I have been listening to more things! Chvrches 'Screen Violence' (2021) Another album of jolly electro stuffs. It's nice, but I think I preferred the one with the blue cross they did earlier. Maybe need to give this a few more. Robert Smith takes time out from the permanently gestating Cure's new al...

Ooh missed this thread! The first three Aliens films I can always sit through, along with Back To The Future and T2. There's something evergreen about them and they don't get old despite the amount of times I've seen them. There's few of the Marvel films I can sit through again and again, but Captai...

Masterpiece some numbers Reboost These Diaclone homages are my Masterpiece figures of choice these days. I just like seeing some that's familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Reboost itself is pretty awesome. It's just a more fancy version of how the Skids mould transforms, but doesn't overdo th...
