Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management
My guess is we're already there with some of the systems already commercially available and some already work around common glitches like hands, etc, so to be honest I wouldn't expect that much need for retouching. Hasbro do have big enough owned collections of art that I suspect they could train on...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management
And rather strong evidence that the company intends to switch a load of art requirements over to AI and pay college grads to clean it up:

I think it'd be parentorguardianf*cker.
That's quite a neat retro sci-fi design on the Nightshade alt mode, and the robot mode is giving IDW vibes... is it possible to have the wings point down out of the way or take them off?

Worth a watch for ex-employee perspectives on Hasbro's second round of mass layoffs.

Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?
Real or Waco / tech-bro end of the scale? He's certainly got a lite version of the Steve Jobs field, but with most of the site's income gone and heavy users being classed as people who visit roughly once a day and share a few tweets, etc, most estimates seem to put the net attrition at upwards of a ...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Wheeljack will presumably still get shoehorned into a Legacy type release, it'll just be annoying if it's part of a bundle. As you say, bigger Spychangers or G1.5 ciphers are there if they can get over the obsession with pre-TF colour variants. I think some of the Siege deficits may genuinely have b...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
I think you're right, unfortunately, Hasbro have gotten more scummy in their business practices as global inflation bites. RE: SS -- mmm, apparently not. https://www.reddit.com/r/transformers/comments/10wgblg/siege_sideswipe_vs_kingdom_sideswipe/ That would've been a paper cut issue at the time and ...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Oh yeah, Earthrise directly after Siege will have been when people who were less on the fence already really started avoided buying stuff when it first came out, and on top of that inflation and inability to find the sweet spot between "yet another version of a pre-movie character" and &qu...

Joes Classified B.A. (heavy artillery Roadblock). Not an original idea, but I like it.

Got a couple of Battle Across Time two pack Sideswipes with a view to doing one in Action Master colours, and dug Siege Sideswipe out of the Dinobot Hunt group he was in on the back of a shelf. And it's a lot better than I remember after watching BAT 2pk auctions for a few months, the more futuristi...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!
Ta, can't spot one (they seem to be focusing on Batman for now because there's a shortage of figures of him, apparently) but it's definitely a job for a figure base and sod the alt-mode. The story's heavy on anachronisms and visual-only design work so may as well lean into the pretender shell, plus ...

Big spoilers. Still haven't watched episodes, and the plot twist is very fan-fic-slash-official-books but I quite like it insofar it could explain a lot of other things.

Re: Doctor Who is 60!
Just dropping a link to a rather good podcast, which is often fascinating listening for the actor/actress and production team interviews despite the fact I've probably managed to listen to all of about a dozen audiobooks in twenty years. They've just reviewed the new episodes (which I still haven't ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!
The promo photos look good, depending on what price it can be found at. Talking of cassettes, opened up the Noise and Graphy part of the weird SKU throuple Hasbro cassette reissue pack (not calling them Gurafi and Noizu, f*ck that attempt at trademarking phonemes). IIRC half-price Kapow bargains tha...

Chase from Captain Power. Awful figure (look at the arms!) and never had any of the toys or gimmicky light gun stuff as a kid but did get thoroughly engrossed in the UK annual. It looks like there's been a recent warehouse find of MOSC stock, so an interesting if fairly common curio for less than mo...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management
The biggest problem with Super7 stuff seems to be that they don't learn (or can't apply knowledge) to using appropriate plastics. So you get hands that are too rigid or don't grip, in particular, or waxy finishes and quite low detail sculpts like their "vintage" style MOTU stuff. Either is...
