Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC
Well, Trump's finally gone from office after 400,000+ dead. So now the US can maybe kind of, sort of start to deal with this?

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Prime brought a ton of new designs and characters too! Even the ones that were reimaginings of classic characters were usually very different. Optimus, Megatron and Bumblebee were based on the movie designs and Shockwave was fairly G1-esque, but everyone else felt very distictive. And Beast Hunters...

Re: Revisitation: The IDW Original Continuity Retrospective.
Okay, a few thoughts on issue two: I like the thematics of the chase moving from the city to the desert. All of the different possible iterations of the story fall away as our human cast get drawn into the present conflict. All the other distractions getting left behind, as it were. I have no idea w...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
A lot of the toys I've had the most fun with over the last year have been things like Universe Countdown (I'm still staggered this guy clutters up ebay - he's a fantastic toy!) and some of the Energon figures I picked up. Rather undermines the point I was making, but chunky fun things like Towline ...

Re: Predaking and Stampy, and other stories
And this one that I've never shared publicly, Convoy and Mio. https://imgur.com/a/IZSdDTi Reason being that this one was made at the request of an Icelandic board member who had recently lost his kitty Mio. He said that he liked Predaking and the Shining Star and wanted me to memorialize his little ...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Titans Return Quake (2017) Yeah, even though it's not out of the realm of possibility that they'll make a new-mold version of basically anybody at this point, the Quake we did get is actually really nice. The color deco is pretty and not used terribly often. You're probably right that the last deca...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC
Oof. As of today, I think the US is creaking toward 400,000 dead from covid 19. I'm not entirely sure because the news channels have taken down the cumulative death totals for coverage of the riots in the capitol building incited by trump to stop congress from certifying his election loss.
Ugh.
Ugh.

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
I was going to chide you for not picking the robotmasters beast Megatron that you got for $3, but then I remembered that he came out in 2004 and is thus excluded from the running. :o Interesting topic, though. I'd really have to think about it, given the past decade has (inclusive of the third party...

Re: Revisitation: The IDW Original Continuity Retrospective.
Saw the new post, so I went ahead and read issue 2 1. Broadly agree that the first half is better than the second, but the cringey parts in the second half gave me thoughts. Yes, Verity is in the right and Hunter is an entitled douche, but his douchey-ness and Ratchet's immediate default to him as "...

Re: Revisitation: The IDW Original Continuity Retrospective.
Yeah, I think Furman just forget she'd given a fake name by the time he wrote issue one. That's unfortunate. After I posted, it occurred to me that Verity giving a false name plays into the themes of deception and identity, which should be central to any transformers adaptation, but usually isn't. ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!
This means I was finally able to assemble SS Devastator . I've avoided looking at pictures of him, so the first good look I got was when I put him together a few minutes ago. I figured I'd be more delighted with him as a surprise rather than something I'd seen for months. I think it worked. But, th...

Re: Revisitation: The IDW Original Continuity Retrospective.
Okay, I bought the digital version of the collection. After some trouble getting the kindle program to zoom in so that I can read the silly thing, I've gone through issue 0 and beyond a bit (the collection doesn't overtly indicate where one issue ends and the next begins - I had to go back to notice...

Re: Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays (delete as applicable)
No lie, I was disappointed to not see Optimus in his Santa hat at the top of the site banner this year. I thought it was an automatic script that changed for christmas and new years, but I guess Denyer was doing it manually this whole time?

Re: Revisitation: The IDW Original Continuity Retrospective.
So I'm looking on amazon and trying to figure out where to start. I'm guessing this is where I should be?
Apparently it's sixteen volumes divided into two series of 1-8, with only the second half noting that it's phase two of two in the listings. Am I correct?

Re: Boxes and boxes and boxes...
I think I can clarify a bit: if you got the figure just because the mold is interesting and it's a mainline release, the packaging can probably go. If you got the figure because the mold is interesting and the release itself is somewhat noteworthy (masterpiece, fancy japan stuff, display value on it...

Re: Boxes and boxes and boxes...
Depends on the style of the box and the nature of the figure. For me, mass release Hasbro stuff boxes tend to get broken down flat and kept in a tote. For what purpose? I've no idea! The last time I dug out old packaging to go with ebay listings was probably 2008 or something. Fancier and import stu...
