Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!

Some great choices! Generations Brainstorm (2014) Prime Robots In Disguise Vehicon (2012) I remember hunting around everywhere for these guys back in the day, and always coming up empty. I suppose Brainstorm is probably a technically "worse" toy than the TR figure that followed a few years later and...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!

That Megatron would definitely make my five year old's list of favourite Transformers, though! For a while there he would spend all day running around the house with it going ""Yeeeees..." But somehow, Robot Masters was seventeen years ago. I kind of don't want to believe that. I'm also in denial ab...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!

I had to Google that because I haven't read Spotlight: Kup in over a decade. Obviously I need to start following along with your IDW revisitation!

It's a lot less gruesome than I remembered it being. Just pop the right arm and leg off their ball joints and you're most of the way there.

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!

After realizing how many of my favourite toys hail from the distant past of 2010 (a great year for Transformers toys!), I realized that I couldn't call them "the best X of the last decade!" anymore! That got me wondering what my favourite toys from the decade that just ended (2011 to 2020) were, and...

Re: [The video game thread]

Thirteen-odd years late to the party, I've finally played Portal . I honestly can't remember the last time I had this much fun playing a game. It's a simple game with exactly one game mechanic, but it's a mechanic that works really well and really makes you think laterally. Towards the end of the ga...

Re: Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays (delete as applicable)

Merry...Boxing Day I guess! I hope everyone had a good Christmas. Old ones are the hideously pixelated best ones  THIS ISN'T A HOLIDAY, THERE'S SO MUCH WORK TO DO This was the most relaxing Christmas has been in six years for us! Being in lockdown means we actually got to stay home all day and p...

My wife spoiled the hell out of me with three really nice figures! Generations Selects Black Roritchi: I don't know if I've ever owned a toy whose colour changes as much under different light conditions. In daylight he's a brilliant gold. Sitting at my desk with a couple lamps on at night time, you ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

For whatever reason, the head that looks terribly silly on Earthrise Megs looks totally right on the G2 version. Earthrise Autobot Clones: I totally forgot that I bought these guys. Or maybe more accurately, I preordered them months ago and immediately wrote them off because Amazon Canada has been m...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

I generally have more nostalgia for the toys than the show, and have been kind of bummed that the Jetfire toys homage the latter. Even when they have the masked face, they still have the wings out Seeker style instead of folding away G1 toy style. I'm not sure if I would agree with that. The most r...

Re: [The video game thread]

I absolutely adore Majora's Mask , and all the things that Tantrum calls out as negatives are the things I like the most about it! I really enjoy that the game forces to you actually make progress, and think about what you're going to do to make the most of your 72 hours in-game. I wouldn't want eve...

Earthrise Race Track Patrol : I got these guys two weeks ago and didn't bother to post about it, which probably tells you how exciting they weren't. Their colours are really striking, except the pink one's legs are only painted on the front, so he looks a bit cheap from any angle except dead on. Bu...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Earthrise Smokescreen: Is this the first toy that was actually made to be Smokescreen first and foremost? I think it might be! The Alternator is probably the other one that comes close, but that one was really made to be an Impreza first and foremost and it was just a stroke of luck that it made su...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

2.8% of RI residents have tested positive. To get to 70%, the number would have to double 4.1 times. 4.1 times 5 months is 20 months, so June 2022. That's a lot faster than not overwhelming our health care system, but probably/hopefully not faster than it'll take to develop and distribute a vaccine...

Re: OFFICIAL TRANSFORMERS TOYS NEWS

The skeleton-bots look like a fun addition to the ranks. Not quite what I was thinking of when I said that I hoped the line gave us new beast characters, but both of the ones revealed so far look neat. Blackarachnia, Cyclonus and Megatron also look pretty cool. The other Beast Wars guys are nice too...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

The stud shooters are my least favourite thing about modern Star Wars Lego. They're ugly, AND my son always gets really upset when he flings yet another bit off to disappear behind the couch. But the battle packs are good fun in spite of them, though I don't have this particular one. Marvel Legends ...

Earthrise Snapdragon Kind of night and day with his pal Apeface, who suffered from bad material and bad QC that weren't up to the task of making his ambitious engineering work in the real world. Snapdragon is a lot less ambitious, but he feels so much better in-hand. The engineering is fairly basic...

Also, It's neat that Hasbro is getting better at keeping some of these Selects a surprise until they're available to order. It's a nice change from knowing what's coming so far in advance that it feels old before you can even buy it. And speaking of news way too far in advance, Vietnamese factory t...
