Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

Word of warning if anyone's after LDD -- the 4.3.12 installer on the official site seems to have a very outdated brick definition file (missing various joints and more besides) and is a much smaller download than 4.3.11 -- fortunately the previous version is still available; https://www.eurobricks.c...

It's the sound of an era. To put it into context, I'd recommend this compilation from the time --

Re: Some thoughts on the Marvel TF comics

Weird oversight, isn't it?

Also couldn't get into a book ignoring G2. Did quite enjoy the "Transformers '84 #0" one shot that came out recently though.

Been doing a bit more research, and it appears Jerac's published instructions -- the Smurfs dreads in the post above are an iteration further ahead in some respects, but this is funking cool; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7hoDu5B3Ic https://www.brickvault.toys/products/dreadnought-warhammer-40k h...

Re: What TV shows are you watching thread.

Couldn't get through the first series of Preacher, personally. I get the impression it moves onto the "great American road trip" arc eventually in the more recent stuff though. If anything, my view'd be that the comics could do with some abridging rather than padding out -- it's a great series but l...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Speaking of pre-orders it's going to be ****ing hard to justify Seacons at the suggested TT mall prices -- getting to 3P combiner heights. Are they really, though? Generic deluxe figure for Titans Return was ~$17 to $20, and it's Takara counterpart was typically $40 by the time it got to this conti...

Springer, but holding off on opening until Impactor puts in an appearance too.

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

I realise this is my own little niche interest, but I'm pretty sure the Castraferrum ones are new (2016) rather than I've just forgotten them... and that one in the middle is particularly neat. The design as a whole captures the squatness in a way I basically ignored (haven't really modded them sinc...

Can you remember anything about the email address you're registered with here? Rather than post publicly, if you want to send me an email via https://virtualdebris.co.uk/page/contact and a current email address... also, could Warcry verify your ID? Without poking around too much I can see you've exc...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

As far as Kickstarter-type things go, I'd rather have seen something like those 3P pretenders -- stuff that would probably never justify a big enough retail release but a toy company could make work and come out of at least cost neutral and with kudos.

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

Titan Trypticon, he's so bloody massive he looks ridiculous in my tiny house. He's bigger than our cats! Mmm, and ours (who isn't a small breed) -- but does look nice on top of a couple of display cabinets with Metroplex and Fort Max in city mode, plus some MMs, etc. Was cheap enough to feel like a...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

Not surprised at all. General lack of certainty over many things doesn't incline most people to drop that amount on a single item that's an impractical size. Whereas done as Titan class size and quality it'd probably sell like hot cakes. Also, prices are going to go up because of tariffs. That threa...

Sort of Transformers... what's more interesting than being a MOC is that it's alternate build of a specific set, so if you wanted to follow along you could go get it: https://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2019/08/instructions-for-lego-transformer.html https://i.imgur.com/YJxwzJm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YJ...

Re: Some thoughts on the Marvel TF comics

Culture doesn't exist in isolation from biology, sure. in most continuities Transformers are either built in factories by other Transformers or spring fully alive from the ground. I don't think they'd have anything we'd recognize as genders because I don't think they would even have much meaning to ...

Re: Some thoughts on the Marvel TF comics

they very much feel that in his clunky analogy Furman is enforcing a lot of negative stereotypes Insofar as objectivity exists, he objectively is -- plus it's badly written. There's no defence of Spotlight: Arcee there. My point is that I don't think he's really had any impact on his "legacy" excep...

From memory (although IIRC the set I've got are knockoffs) don't expect it to stay combined if knocked, the Scramble City combiners are more practical as toys -- although that's not saying much.

Re: TF Nation 2019

What was interesting to hear (at least to me) was Furman basically admitting he does some of his best work when he's boxed in by editorial (I know not many people like them, but I still think things like his first arc for Marvel US and Maximum Dinobots is more the sort of Furman stuff I like - taug...

Re: TF Nation 2019

Definitely worth doing at least once. TBCH I think a TF convention as a concept is more of a day event unless you're going for other attendees, there are a lot of loose things you want to check through the seller stands for, or you have a lot of the panels/events as must-haves, but some folk do effe...
