Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

Marvel Legends The Thing I was pretty stoked when Hasbro made the Walgreens-exclusive Fantastic Four figures, which were carried by EB Games here in Canada. Not so much because I was a big F4 fan, but because I figured it would be an easy team to build and be done with -- four core members, five if...

Re: So I'm pretty much out of the fandom at this point

I am kinda curious how many of us actually like Transformers anymore, and how many of us just come here to keep tabs on the people we've known since forever. I still collect the toys but I don't follow the franchise anywhere as closely as I used to. The Bumblebee movie was the last time I watched or...

Re: [The video game thread]

Yeah, Spidey is easily worth dropping $20 on! It's kept me busy for a month and I'm pretty sure the content will run out before my interest does. I think it might be the best game I've played in a decade or more.

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

It seems like a lot of effort just to replicate an obvious error in his box art from 30 years ago, but I suppose that's just how Hasbro rolls nowadays. And if they just had to slavishly replicate something , the box art was definitely a better choice than anything coloured by Yomtov. I don't mind it...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

It's been the opposite here, for the most part. After Fort Max got heavily clearanced, I haven't seen steep discounts on either Trypticon or Omega Supreme (or Predaking, but I was mostly ignoring him). In fact I think the only time Omega was available for less than MSRP was when Toys'R'Us accidental...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

If the Astro Squad are the shuttle I'll be super happy, but super surprised too. Either of the other vehicles from that squad would be super easy Battle Squad redecos. Scorponok looks pretty cool, but Hasbro's chinsiness at the Titan price point is always disappointing. The originals always look lik...

Re: Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job) [and other random Targetmasters]

Maybe Catgut? Maybe take one apart and spraypaint a Steeljaw? It's mostly black, which makes it hard to do much with dyes...can only change the head and tail that way, really. Though that'd be more than they bothered to do with Dazzlestrike... It's really too bad there's been so little diversity and...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I got a box of stuff from Toys'R'Us that I never expected to own! Until a couple days ago I hadn't really noticed that they carried Generations Selects, but I happened to spy some while browsing their Chinese New Year sale on their website. Selects Hot Shot: Oh my...this is so much cooler than I exp...

Re: Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job)

Update: probably ruined an RTS Tracks trying different techniques to dye it with little success! Learned a lot, though. These guys were a lot more successful! http://i.imgur.com/qcOot4ps.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Ot9IXs3s.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SQQzxCis.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Bpvz0Xfs.jpg My Quake has ...

Re: Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job)

Yeah, that's common from what I read. Some people say you shouldn't leave the plastic in acetone for more than 30 seconds to a minute at a time, rinsing and cooling in between if you're going to do multiple sessions. And you need to be really careful with the heat. I've even seen some folks who skip...

Re: Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job)

It turned out better than I had any right to expect! But this week I've been trying and failing to turn a spare RTS Tracks (Actually, I think I may have gotten it from you years ago? I have a whole bin of spare 2010-era toys to experiment with) black. The whole "dyeing" thing feels really hit or mis...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Everyone seems to talk about Cybertron as the best of the UT, but Energon has always been tops in my books. The line gets a bad rap because of how awful the Deluxe and Mega combining Autobots were, but there were a lot of great toys around them. I think my sister's kids have them now, but I remember...

Re: Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job)

I don't think so. I get where those customizers are coming from, but to me that alt-mode is pretty much unsalvageable. Or at the very least, it would take a lot more than wheels to fix it...I know there's some 3P kits out there for Ratchet and Ironhide that hide the feet and arms a lot better in tru...

Re: [The video game thread]

I think the thing I like most about the combat (and why I liken it to Arkham) is the way that, even though Spidey himself is crazy agile and light, the combat itself feels heavy and really connects. That's a really good way to describe it. I think the basic mechanics work better than Arkham's do, t...

Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job) [and other random Targetmasters]

I got Siege Firebolt as a stocking stuffer last Christmas, and IMO he's probably the nicest of the three (two and a half?) traditional Targetmaster molds that the line brought us. There was just one problem: I don't have a single decent modern Hot Rod to put him with! I had him on a shelf with TR Ho...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Siege Spin ister Toy of the year, eye-searing helicopter/10. But seriously though, even though I'm giddy just due to the mere existance of such an accurate neon terror of a figure, fanboyism aside I think he's still a great Transformer. My #1 beef with the Siege line (even before the price hike) ha...

Re: [The video game thread]

One of the best games I've played of this generation. Combat is very much in the vein of the Batman Arkham titles but faster paced. The story is good fun and really engaging and the trophies are not insanely unachievable. I enjoyed it so much I platinumed the game then bought all the dlc and 100% a...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Is this it? It doesn't have the toy colors versions mixed in, but these are good fun. I don't know if I've seen that exact post before, but that's definitely the same idea. The ship that uses two of the lens bits as wings is probably my favourite of that bunch. :) I've also seen people use Reflecto...
